especially now there have been a handful of notable (financial) successes showing it's possible, which sort of opens the floodgates, where before if you wanted to create a show you would assume the only avenue is the standard one via a large studio

thanks to the internet all interesting observations are doomed, by fate, to eventually become a pithy catchphrase for people to declare themselves as uniquely enlightened in comparison with the unwashed masses, totally devoid of any of the original intent or meaning behind said observations

physical copies of indiepocalypse on a wooden display
If you're up around Northmapton, MA you can now stop by Tunic Coffee and not only get your usual local cafe order, but also a copy of Indiepocalypse?!
The first place to carry Indiepocalypse being a cafe after receiving repeated disinterest from game shops feels like a perfect encapsulation of maybe the whole alternative game experience I've went through these last years.
A new Indiepocalypse came out today! If you've got even a passing interest in games outside of being spoonfed each subsequent highly advertised release you owe it to yourself to check out this release. (and the whole catalog really)
something about Unity feels so heavy. it never feels like Unity games are light. they're heavy. they make my cheeks go warm
When the green's
In your eyes
And your schemeing

that's possession.,..
word of advice... if someone u know says something uncharacteristic & then their eyes flash a mysterious green glow, there may be schemery afoot...
the nonlinear way in which u can interact with a book is sort of their ultimate affordance and the biggest thing that makes them unique as a medium... yes you can watch sections of a film out of order for example but the precision and ease to which a book allows u this at every level is unique

but I would like to advocate for taking a step back and thinking critically about some of these things. websites storing CSA material is not new and it's necessary for them to process, remove, and handle it. it's not new to AI, or even the internet. it's weird and icky but it has to happen.
for real by the way, I'm all for criticising Google, I'm all for criticising AI, and I do believe a lot of recent policies & technologies are creepy and invasive. I definitely think that AI chatbots like these, as we have seen, have made it easier for issues like this to crop up for example.
if anything having an AI chatbot do it is one of the few preferable instances where you would rather have a robot be handling these decisions full-time than humans. google infamously has had major ethical & health and safety issues hiring humans to perform this role in the past.
people, simply put, will use any service you create to upload illegal or unwanted material and if you want to operate as a company you will have to find a way to remove it. I think it's reasonable to argue about implementation & interpretatrion of this, but at its core it happens on every site ever
if a child uploads sexual content of themselves to YouTube what do you think happens before it is processed and subsequently removed? I understand the shape of your concern but this is not a new, novel, or even necessarily avoidable problem.
basically every website on the planet has been processing content like this as part of its measures to prevent it, yes. this is sort of a non-point. if you prosecute someone in real life for possession of CSA, that material will also be processed and, at least temporarily, stored by various parties
I guess boycotting Harry Potter feels pretty trivial to me, because I'm an adult. if someone told me I shouldn't eat Gerber's baby food, I'd be like, that is no problem. I'm way ahead of you
