Thanks! And I’m even flying Delta out of LAX in a few months. Great to know this could be an option.

Which airport is this, for those who’re interested in where one can get outside past security?

I’d love to know what rotary grater you end up with, I haven’t found one I’m happy with yet. :/

Fair! I guess the follow-up question is whether it’ll be meaningful for him to have someday no matter exactly when he received it.

(Which, uh, he’s on my list for such a gift, I just have several others to make for other kids!)

(Would it work just as well as a second birthday present, or a holiday present, or just a gift given another day, if not completed in time?)

Weird how it’s depressing to suddenly have new long-lasting medical problems! Especially ones that there are no approved treatments for and many doctors don’t know anything about managing… /s

Big big solidarity hugs, Kate. 🐘❤️❤️❤️

I *am* so excited to hear about your improvement, and also I relate so very hard with what you’re discussing re: grieving the loss and anxiety around testing new baselines. This is a not uncommon topic in my therapy sessions!

I think of the experience as being in an immersive modern percussion musical installation, and do my best to focus on the sound as interesting, ideally with my eyes closed.

There’s still very much a Covid pandemic, btw. If you have issues with mask breathability, I highly recommend the FloMask.

The big spinny magnet thunk machine? Would you like to hear about how I think of it that helps me with the noise and the claustrophobia?

And install decent ventilation/air filtration systems!

The Fatherless Fantasy Of ‘Bridgerton’ | Defector In the world of Netflix’s Bridgerton, the wildly popular Regency romance adapted from an equally popular book series, some things are constant: The women wear organza and brocade gowns; everyone takes...

I love when an essay points out something true—and, in retrospect, totally obvious—that I had never noticed before. All the dads in Bridgerton are dead.

We see the increase of strokes and heart attacks after wildfire smoke events. It’s not inevitable. Masks (and indoor filtration) can save us from this.

A walking, talking, cucumber. Or possibly a carrot (with greens still attached as a tail).

There are no words that adequately describe how much I miss being able to go out to gigs, to parties, to festivals, just having a basic normal social life.

Long Covid took all that from me, and it could take it from anyone.

Ugh, thanks for mentioning this one. I’m low on so many vitamins and minerals presumably mostly due to poor absorption helped along by the famotidine, but I wasn’t specifically aware magnesium was on the list of things to look at.

(Except potassium - that fucker’s low due to the Florinef.)

Exciting update!

The drive to ask Senators to sign a request for Long Covid funding is going so well that the deadline has been extended to Monday—calls and shares this weekend will continue to help!

And 13 Senators have already signed on!

If you have the time/energy to make a call by Friday, this is one the best bets for new research funding for #LongCovid.

Led by hill wiz @meighanstone.bsky.social — asking your Senators to sign on to this "Dear Colleague" letter is one of most important ways to ask for new funding for FY27.

It would seem
that I am losing patience,
for when the man in front of me
asked why I was masked
I promptly replied:
“so I can outlive my enemies,”
and based on the expression
the man made in response
it would seem
that was one of my better
responses to that question.

This is a story for anyone who has #ME/CFS, #LongCovid, or any other invisible disability. It's the story I wish I'd been able to read shortly after I got sick almost 9 years ago.

This was so good and sweet, Effie, thank you. I especially appreciate the message that we can and will find our own ways to keep doing what’s important to us, and that our family and loved ones can and should support us in doing that, and in doing what’s best for us even if it’s odd to them. 🐘❤️❤️❤️

“Depression and isolation from everyone” is so easy to see “has ME/CFS now and needs to limit activity and emotional involvement to avoid PEM” inside of, while simultaneously not wanting to diagnose from afar.

If I never have to read some person saying "what happened to innocent until proven guilty" about why some guy should still be elected to one of the most powerful positions in the country despite numerous sexual assault allegations it will be too soon
