The Religious Right has launched a new effort to pressure SCOTUS to reverse Obergefell. The coalition includes Evangelicals (eg, Al Mohler, Tony Perkins, Dusty Deevers), Catholics (eg Leonard Leo’s pal Robert George), Jews (Josh Hammer), FRC, members of FRC’s “State Policy Council” network, etc. 1/

My sister once dated a grown man who didn’t realize butter came from milk, until he was playing a video game where he had to make butter or something. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hollywood continually seems “caught by surprise” by things that have been extremely obvious for an embarrassingly long time, like “women like to watch hot guys make out” and “Black people have money”

THIS is what makes my head spin: The president is not a moral figure in any idiom, any land, any culture, any subculture. I'm not talking about the liberal enlightenment that would make him want the country to take care of the poor and sick. I mean he has no
Republican values either. He has no honor among thieves, no cosa nostra loyalty, no Southern code against cheating or lying, none of the openness of New York, rectitude of Boston, expressiveness and kindness of California, no evangelical family values, no Protestant work ethic. No Catholic moral seriousness, no sense of contrition or gratitude. No Jewish moral and intellectual precision, sense of history.
He doesn't care about the life of the mind
OR the life of the senses. He is not mandarin, not committed to inquiry or justice, not hospitable. He is not proper.
He is not a bon vivant who loves to eat, drink, laugh. There's nothing he would die for - not American values, obviously, but not the land of Russia or his wife or young

son. He has some hollow success creeds from Norman Vincent Peale, but Peale was obsessed with fair-dealing and a Presbyterian pastor; Trump has no fairness or piety. He's not sentimental; no affection for dogs or babies. No love for mothers, "the common man"" veterans. He has no sense of military valor, and is openly a coward about war. He would have sorely lacked the pagan beauty and capacity to fight required in ancient Greece. He doesn't care about his wife or wives; he is a philanderer but he's not a romantic hero with great love for women and sex. He commands loyalty and labor from his children not because he loves them, even; he seems almost to hate them
— and if one of them slipped it would be terrifying. He does no philanthropy. He doesn't - in a more secular key - even seem to have a sense of his enlightened self-interest enough to shake Angela Merkel's hand. Doesn't even affect a love for the arts, like most rich New Yorkers. He doesn't live and die by aesthetics and health practices like some fascists; he's

very ugly and barely mammalian. Am I missing an obscure moral system to which he so much as nods? Also are there other
people, living or dead, like him?

Not to go BLUESKY THE BEST WOO because boy howdy does this site have problems

But if you are actually taking the numbers on Twitter at face value you are a fool. Between the millions of bots/AI accounts and goosed numbers that have been proven to be bullshit (899 million views??) it is all fake!

Likely so, machines can’t crochet and apparently AI still can’t either

Apparently eloping and telling your family over a month later is more acceptable than publicly announcing your engagement, & inviting everyone 7.5 months in advance to the wedding. Because one is straight passing and the other is queer/poly.

Oh & the elopement was 2 weeks before the queer wedding.

We got this one on our front porch a year or two. Like someone just creepily dropped it off in the night/wee hours of the morning.

My wedding is in 8.5 days, and I still have at least 6 hours of knitting left on the (beaded) border of my shawl.

Then I have to figure out how I’m going to block the sucker.

At least tomorrow is my last day of working for the next two weeks. 😅

How To Pick Up Dates

This is because I keep seeing some very good dating advice presented in a snarky way, and I wanted to break it down into something useful for people who want more dates and romance int heir lives but don't know what to do, and that's:

1. Be Attractive
2. Don't Be Unattractive

We lost Marshall years before he passed and it was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever experienced. His wife had just started speaking to a divorce lawyer, when an employee at the psychiatric facility he was in stumbled across his file.

It’s heartbreaking seeing Bruce Willis’s family go through what we went through with my big brother Marshall. Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD)/Picks Disease is so, so cruel. I grieved the loss for years before he actually slipped away for good.

New peak LA Celebrity encounter: giving up my seat at a restaurant for Mandy-freaking-Moore (and her family), looking flawless as ever, but not fully realizing it was her until a few minutes later because her face shape has changed so much over the years.

@jessgracegarcia.bsky.social and I flipped.

Oh nice, I usually use 20 with a smaller bead, but I just got a bunch of 8/0 so I might have to try that combo.
