What an absolute pleasure to have hosted Ryan Skinnell for a Zoom talk on teaching public rhetoric in the second era of Trump. About 130 folks signed up--college and K-12 educators and concerned community members.
Here's what I know: WE SHOW UP, even when we are terrified, pissed, and uncertain.
It is simply a pleasure to be your student. I learn so much about the subject AND teaching with thoughtful, energizing skill. Always well thought out, always practical, theoretical, *useful*, and welcoming, with strong and well articulated boundaries for the shared-space. <3
I am sometimes tempted to grind them all into a fine powder, so we can snort them, because my bog witch self cannot help saying the quiet part out loud.
A few years ago, I went to a concert wearing a red, full length leather coat that was likely made in 2010. A gorgeous, fresh-faced twenty-something petted the arm and purred to me, "Oh I bet you've had this coat for aaaaages."
