*deep breath, staring off into the horizon, hands on hips*
You know...I think I could write an interactive novel.

Text: That summer was stifling, the sun scorching us from a cloudless sky, its heat rising in hazy ripples off the asphalt. Worse was the humidity. Our resident poet, Ollie, likened it to being trapped on the sweaty underside of Satan’s sack. He always had such a way with words.
My new story is off to a good start ✍️
Small update: I learned a couple of weeks ago that my book will be out in paperback instead of hardcover, which hopefully makes it a bit more accessible for folks who are interested but daunted by the high prices of hardcovers (I get it). Preorder links below!
My least attractive quality? Not proofreading my posts to make sure everything is spelled correctly 🙃
A text post that says, "I'm not like other women. You may not fascinate me by giving me a piece of cheese. Give me the whole block or quit wasting my time." And a reply that says, "That's one of the most oddly attractive things I've read in a while."
My most attractive quality? Instatiable appetite for cheese.
If you've ever bought funnel cake from a teenager who might've smoked pot to stand being there, Amusement Park Arcana is for you
It's Day 18 of Women in Horror Year. Let's talk about one of the best novellas of the decade, @laurelhightower.bsky.social's CROSSROADS. www.briankeene.com/algorithmzer...
I love grackles! Even wrote a story about them once.

Digital painting of an opening pink magnolia bloom next to an unopened bud contrasted against a clear blue sky. The bloom has large petals which are touched by shadow here and there bringing out a deeper pink color.
An ethereal pink magnolia blossom courtesy of a lovely photo from @taterdash.bsky.social for today's #DrawAFlowerADay. The original photo had more blooms in the background but I liked the contrast of focusing in on one branch against this pure blue sky.
It's Lesbian Visibility Week 🏳️🌈👩❤️👩
So...
Go ahead: perceive me, textually!
(I'm happy to say, there are dykes as far as the eye can see in every book I've written: horror dykes; con artist dykes; Dykes To Watch Out For, Lest They Turn Into Werefoxes...
You can't go wrong)

The British cover for Enchanting the Fae Queen, by Stephanie Burgis, shows a green background with a frame of climbing roses and branches rising through a night sky full of stars. In the center of the image, just beneath the moon, stands a massive, ominous castle with a hedge maze before it. A blonde woman in a long gown scattters sparkles in her wake as she leads her tall. uniformed male companion through the moonlit hedge maze at a run, while giant butterflies flutter overhead. The tag line reads: “All’s fae in love and war” and a blurb from Sarah Beth Durst reads: “Full of charm, wit and magic.” Around and beneath the cover image is this text, connected by arrows to different parts of the cover image: She's a scandalous seductress; he's famously moral, virtuous and chaste; “Yes, I may kill him, but I’ll kill anyone else who tries”; Enemies to lovers; only 99p this April.
...And for just 9 more days, if you're in the UK/mainland Europe, you can snap up the British ebook for only 99p!

So pantser aligned that I can plan a list of stories for my collection and end up writing completely different ones because oooh shiny 😭😂
When I enter a bathroom, I am burdened by glorious purpose (to use said bathroom) and the knowledge that the gaps in the stall doors are ridiculously wide. That's about it.
Cheese wheel or bust!
I'm not like other women. You may not fascinate me by giving me a piece of cheese. Hand over the whole block or quit wasting my time.
I'm so happy she's back!
My mind is currently all noise, no words. Anyone up for a story that consists entirely of "Wind blowing, TV static, crickets chirping, loon calling, waves lapping..."?

"A good blend of 'Salem's Lot and IT, but feels very distinct in its own voice."
So says the latest Goodreads review of @toddkeisling.com's DEVIL's CREEK, available now in a new glossy Bad Hand edition.

Ho, traveler. You have come across a Very Good Boy. He sees you are weary. Sit with him a moment, won't you?

No I will not close the game I've had running in the background for the last couple of hours while I worked on other stuff. That's my emotional support game.
She'll be back...

Digital drawing in white ink against a black background of two wrens, small, roundish songbirds with short, perky tails. They are facing each other on some branches and one has its mouth open as though talking or singing while the other looks on with smiling approval.
Illustration countdown to #WrensAria publication!
52/52 Wrens are one of my favorite birds. It was a delight to write an entire book about a very plucky & courageous one. I suppose it is a spoiler to post this final drawing which shows Wren being welcomed home, but don't we need some happy endings?
