This may be an unpopular opinion, but I’ve always hated meatloaf.

Dozens of AI disease-prediction models were trained on dubious data The models are designed to predict someone’s risk of diabetes or stroke. A few might already have been used on patients.

In a new preprint, the authors identify 124 peer-reviewed papers which used provenance-unknown Kaggle data to train AI for stroke and diabetes risk. Some sets show impossible patterns, yet models of the models are already hitting clinics.

Too many drivers basically view bicyclists and pedestrians as NPCs and not as real humans they could turn to mush with their cars.

like maybe the public would be getting less frothy and toothy about this if big tech hadn’t spent the last three years constantly threatening the public with impoverishment and feudal control, idk

Great question! As a tech & rights researcher, I'd say we have not seen anything pushed as broadly but pressure in certain sectors w/ ed tech, digital ID, etc. I see pressure to adopt these & LLMs coming from companies (and sometimes govs) that want to collect data & reshape society to their ends.

Homeless debtors' prisons? Homeless convict leasing? Homeless chain gangs? That is what Louisiana is one step closer to after yesterday's vote.

Watching this for the 30th time just to see reporter’s facial expression, I realized “outmogging” sounds much better coming from him because it sounds like a reasonable Australian term rather than gross incel shit.

Thank you for saying this. The lead paint theory has always felt gross to me.

Yikes. Another good reason to avoid Target. I wonder what other companies are using AI for security.

This is such a disturbing example of how technology can distort and amplify abusive behavior. It reminds me of how victims are often labeled hysterical and have their body language analyzed by pseudo-experts. Now these tactics are being replicated by a biased chatbot people pretend is an authority

This kind of thing at Substack (including their Nazi problem and trans hate problem) are why my newsletter is at Ghost.org and always has been. Andrew Tate is a spectacularly vile human being accused of numerous violent crimes against women and hugely corrosive for young male minds.

May Victor Orbán simply be the first in a string of countries engaging in overdue housecleaning by kicking their authoritarian leaders to the curb.

Right. There is a big digital rights movement in India that is full of people who are against gen AI. I have a friend who even runs a film festival there and is definitely not seeking movies with AI.
