Why is this not a national scandal? If 1000+ jobs were lost overnight in carmaking or steel it would be pure shock.

Congratulations!
A Zig or a Ziggy. ( I have a Ziggy)
I wrote this book, which is about a writer but not a literary biography. It's published by a university press, but it's not an academic book. It's just a good story about an interesting life — and I keep hoping that someday someone else will mention that. Sigh.
John Ashbery, from his Czerny exercises
Very sorry to hear that the poet J.H. Prynne has died, at the age of 89. Here, from 10 years ago, is my attempt to describe the man and the work

A dog poses on a table. He's surrounded by a tailor's measuring tape.
Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

Congratulations to @martindoyle.bsky.social on the launch of A Hosting,a career spanning collection of 60 interviews with Irish writers over 35 years. A phenomenal achievement. What a great record of Irish writers and writing. Will be widely read and studied I'm sure.
Went to a workshop and evening of readings last year and it was so enjoyable. Very keen to see this!
Thank you.
We should try and meet up some time, with wine!
What collection is this from? I know so little about Merwin.
Amazing
I’ll have one too.
Dhal is the best.
Would immediately buy the mid-century novel that began with this sentence.
I feel your gaffing and your hassle. Xx
One of my very favourite books.
A shot from the film showing the four men in summer shirts / tops - two of the men are smiling, while a third looks across at them. The other man is in the background and is harder to see.
DAYS AND NIGHTS IN THE FOREST (Satyajit Ray, 1970).
I loved this witty, humane, beautifully observed film about relationships, privilege, entitlement and class. Some interesting contrasts emerge when a group of middle class men travel to the forests to get drink and pick up girls. (1/3) #FilmSky
Believable Lies, a history of WW2 propaganda and disinformation, by me.
Since this is popular by my standards, please buy my book! It’s only 99p on Kindle in April and contains lashings of skulduggery.
Today, information: pulverized, nonhierarchized, dealing with everything: nothing is protected from information and at the same time nothing is open to reflection.

Alexander Kluge passed away last month at the age of 94. Bruce Robbins writes on his lifelong dialogue with his fellow artists, writers, and thinkers, from Jürgen Habermas to Oskar Negt to Ben Lerner.
