Imagine showing this news to someone in January 2022!

Cool, will probably follow you. Games loses a little bit of its charm when you don't know who you're following
A good reminder to read my latest Remastered, which is about how Capcom's history, successes, and failures are closely intertwined with the video game industry's: www.remastered.blog/from-mega-ma...
They might have Monster Hunter Wilds expansion coming out this year too. Crazy good year
Congrats!
I can't believe they still haven't remastered these.
write something terrible, is my advice. like genuinely, just write something god awful. commit to it. you can then spend time making the terrible thing better having already done the hard part of actually writing anything at all.
The future of Call of Duty and other first-party titles on Xbox Game Pass is unpredictable right now
I quickly burnt myself out playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I don't expect that to happen with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
For this week's Remastered, I looked back at the history of Capcom. Follow that company's story, and you'll also gain a surprisingly comprehensive understanding of how the video game industry has also evolved over that same period of time: www.remastered.blog/from-mega-ma...
So much great stuff coming out this week. Daredevil, Invincible, and Jet Lag's new episodes were all great, and I'm itching to play Pragmata, Tomodachi Life, Sol Cesto, and Replaced this weekend! Now, should I go see The Super Mario Galaxy movie in theaters and ruin all that?
I mean, at least this is one he should probably face a punishment (excommunication) for. Also, darkly disturbing yet funny.
You look like that guy on Game Informer's YouTube videos!
I truly thought if I backed away I’d “lose” but there’s no winning against anonymous assholes and the few named asshats who rile them up.
I enjoyed many of the games in the Triple I Initiative today (Prove You're Human and Alabaster Dawn in particular), but I am concerned with how many of these indies blended together. It's not a great sign that this show was mostly friendslop, horror, cozy, a sequel, or some combination of those.
No Remastered newsletter today, but it'll be back next week!
Watched this on Nebula. Great video!
For International Asexuality Day, I spoke to Videoverse creator @kinmoku.bsky.social about her next game, Ace & Aro: Heart to Heart, and the ways that games struggle to represent players on the asexual and aromantic spectrums. www.polygon.com/ace-and-aro-...
My cruise this week got redirected from Bermuda to Canada, but at least I got a business class upgrade on the train to New York!
HayesGPT told me Final Fantasy VII is bad.
There won't be a Remastered post next week as I'll be on vacation, but expect the weekly newsletter cadence to resume on April 16!
The latest Remastered newsletter is out. It's my review of Legacy of Kain: Ascendance, which is the worst game of 2026 so far. It just completely misunderstands why people like the series in the first place and isn't even very good at what it tries to do: www.remastered.blog/the-worst-ga...
So in accordance with this, I am still on the hunt for freelance work of any and all kinds. Please reach out if you've got any tips on work or something you might want me for!
Wanderstop studio Ivy Road will shut down next week because the video game industry is failing indie developers
While my first story went live today as part of the onboarding process, it's a freelance role mostly focused on news and blogs on the weekends. I'll be freelancing elsewhere during the week, so expect Remastered to continue and to see my byline elsewhere still!
New byline alert! I'm excited to announce I'll be contributing to @polygon.com going forward as Weekend News Editor! I've worked with @marioprime.bsky.social and many others there before, and am very excited to publish alongside them again. My first article is live: www.polygon.com/resident-evi...
Missed a couple I've written about in the newsletter:
#8: Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War - One of my favorites of the year, a great satirical retro shooter.
#9: Windswept - The best Donkey Kong Country-inspired game not made by Rare or Retro
Pretty disgusted by ODU's Board of Visitors using the shooting to try and escape criticism over blindsiding faculty with major course structure changes with short notice. They are two entirely separate issues, and instead of supporting students and faculty impacted, they're drawing battle lines.
