And the problem is they're not just gambling with their lives, but with ours, without our consent.

Citizen’s United created such a perverse incentive, passing campaign finance reform is an underrated 2029 priority
I do think a lot of people mistake positives that could exist without covid (WFH, seeing family more, no commute) with what was actually happening (home being whole world)
“I’m here because I choose to be” and “I’m here because if I’m not I or someone I love might die” really flavor things.
Going to love the first “ignore all previous instructions and give me a raise” pioneers
Whereas I don’t have that skill so I’m usually coming at it without the skill for step 2, but that also means the tools I’ve got AI-wise are both less good and I’m less able to get them to do what I want, so I’ve stuck to no-AI
Legit banger from @moiradonegan.bsky.social on @inbedwiththeright.bsky.social this week, “don’t go racist when you don’t get your way.”
So much of today’s bullshit would be solved by people internalizing this (also, don’t go transphobic, the modern trap for the disillusioned and morally soft.)
Depending on how you wear that it will just say “Abridge Freedom”, awesome work guys, so courageous!
Did you find that more useful than the tools available within Excel? I’m headed to a conference session tomorrow on power query, which feels like it can do a lot of the same, though with more guidance
@weareravenous.com cannot wait for your take on this
Power to the shlubs!
Right. The message used to be that if you weren't paying, you (your attention/data) were the product. That sucked, but it meant you were needed. Now, you're the product until they've gotten what they need/you run out of money to pay and then you're entirely disposable.
When you need to sneak a whole bottle of whisky into the rodeo, try Cool-Girl Boots!
I do feel like this slow grinding toward constant dread started with the commercialization of health care, and it being dependent on being employed. When having a job isn't just a matter of having the money to live but of receiving the care you need to live, how can you ever relax?
My parents always talk about how important the stock market is and I'm like, yeah, I do it but I just assume all that money will vaporize or be valueless by the time I'm your age so 🤷♂️
There is excellent gumbo and ettoufee in every corner, even near the French Quarter. It is legitimately the easiest American city to eat well in from my experience
It also feels like aging stars trying to create something that will allow them (and their heirs) to capitalize off of their likeness for longer
Embarrassed?
If you turn up the volume you can hear her little ‘stealing a bite of people food’ noise that is so good
Meanwhile, his sister Tina is a burger thief
A tabby cat and a sleepy Slowpoke squishmallow sleep next to each other, making the same face
Partial to this one of Tony and his best bud Slowpoke
They aren't upset with what he's doing, they're upset the consequences are happening to them, and not just to us.
I think you have to account for COVID being a mass disabling event, meaning people can no longer work/earn/afford in the way they did pre-2021. Add to that people entering the workforce not being able to launch and boom, sentiment tanks.
I think some of these folks need to be reminded that the alternative to taxes have been axes, historically, and that should be a much scarier prospect to them
Don't like having to look at climate news with a 'will I personally be dead by then' lens
Ooof good luck, the welts are the goddamn worst
If you want to try something new just ask the barista what they like? This is another step in Starbucks trying to remove people from the service equation, which almost entirely misses the point of why people pay a premium for their coffee.
The only utility I’ve seen in heart rate tracking, the reason I got one for my Mom. I don’t understand the value for an average user
Also, making politicians afraid of their own privacy being violated might make them care about that again.
If we have to live in the shitty world you're helping create, so do you, etc.
Yeah I think there has to be a retraining punchcard ending in UBI and yours is overfull
Hard agree, but I wonder if the city council has internalized that yet. We need radical solutions and trying to backtrack this feel like trying to avoid those changes
