Good story - and reflects how long people with FND often have to wait to get diagnosed
FND should be part of standard medical training in every country so doctors don’t miss this condition

Very gratified to see the European Academy of Neurology has endorsed the AAN guidelines for management of functional seizures.
Hope this means an improved approach and standard of care for people w/ this condition in Europe - and of course much much more research needed

Def do that - suspect (& hope?!) it’s ‘admin error’
Second article focuses on the critical issue of detecting/measuring & appraising placebo in trials
Such a massively important (and complex/fascinating) issue in evidence based medicine that’s still so poorly understood
www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
First of 2 great @thelancetpsych.bsky.social
articles on placebo/nocebo in psychiatry (& relevance to all of medicine) led by the brilliant @mattburkemd.bsky.social
This one on harnessing placebo & mitigating nocebo

Def weird (& disrespectful waste of your and your team’s time) to desk reject after encouraging submission
Have you checked with editor & people who encouraged submission?
Feels likely someone else screening submissions …or they glanced at this and forgot it was something they’d agreed was of interest with more context/info
🎙️Check out our most recent podcast. We spoke with Dr. Julia Doss, clinical psychologist & expert in PNES and FND, about her 20+ year career, pediatric vs adult differences, family roles, and treatment models.

Loving this thread - has a lot of the joy and Jedi level bants of Twitter’s glory days
We need more of this here!

Happy FND Awareness Day!
Functional Neurological Disorder is a common but under-recognized condition.
It can be highly disabling, distressing, and painful.
We are nowhere near the level of support and treatment we need, but thanks to brave advocates we build awareness and get closer every day.
Happy to share our latest study on domain specificity in interoceptive psychophysics!
Call for papers for a collection on placebo and nocebo effects in psychiatry - excellent! @sipsplacebo.bsky.social @timnicholson.bsky.social @devinterhune.bsky.social @labasedow.bsky.social @bnpa.bsky.social @sfb-trr-289.bsky.social

Using a large international EHR database, we examined how often, and to whom, feigning codes are applied in FND.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
