Macarthur are not great, but they look like scoring every time they go forward. Glory are so vulnerable to any counter attack

#PerthGlory taking down all the kids activities between games of the double header exemplifies everything that is wrong with this club at the moment.

Dr Glory prescribing everyone 3 points this season

There’s a bunch of ways to solve this scenario but not the way Perth have. They’re compressed with LB & CBs creating a 3v2, then too spread in the midfield. The RB overcommits with no cover behind

Grim. Haven’t been to a game but feeling like the players have lost faith in Zdrillic??

Currently reading your book @vincerugari.com and this feels awfully familiar

I noticed at the last session a subtle change of players engaging more in “fining” other players, laughing, & starting to see the Forming stage of group development.
There’s still a ways to go, especially riding the Storming stage, but I intend to be more explicit in bringing the group together

I’ve been working hard to get these groups to start merging, making sure players are placed in different groups, ice breaker questions, & introducing a “fines” system, which is a fun way of bringing the groups together with the “fine” being to take care of a plushie for a week…

Group Stages of Development 🧵

We’ve had a big turn over of players for this season & I’ve been really attuned to how the team is coming together. The first few weeks of preseason there’s been 3 distinct groups - previous players, u16 cohort, & new players largely from a development squad…

This also gave us an opportunity to discuss movement & rotation - vacating & filling space in order to disrupt the press & find a free player

All in all - a good start to build on

It was interesting with the 1st restriction of only 2 defenders pressing in half when ball goes to end player. It was too easy to play through so once removed that restriction the players had to be more patient to play through.

Part of my session I ran with u21 women on Saturday. Preseason so just starting to introduce concepts of how we want to play & the language we will use “into/around/through/over”

The purpose is to give the players options of how to play out rather than prescribed patterns

I can’t stress enough how much I hate the fact we have 4.5 minute VAR checks. Just go back to accepting human error & get on with the game

Not been a fan of how APL have run the league but to be fair this year’s “our game” advertising campaign got me interested in the league again after a few years of apathy

Your players will benefit from your self-reflection. Do you video your sessions often?

Great, thanks Mark! Good job on cutting the waffling!

Hi Mark, are you happy to share a brief summary of the intervention? And how did you manage the restart?

I’m not convinced many people cared about the previous iteration but it was somewhat interesting to hear familiar European teams playing against some exotic team from South America or Asia. I can’t see the care factor suddenly changing

Totally agree Gary. I think weakness implies fixed, whereas areas to improve implies progress.
