I think it would be even healthier to recognize that the median person in general is a clout chaser even outside of the internet
Alcoholism runs in my family, I don’t need to be encouraged
This is the kind of bottom of the barrel scratching just before the big data stuff all fell apart
The only time it ever made sense was when I had a friend tell me the purpose with cocaine is to extend your night out by 20 minutes or so
Recreational stimulants is a concept that never really made any sense to me. Never have I been at a party and been like I feel like I need to be less relaxed
Sounds chill

DONALD TRUMP IS A PEDOPHILE!!!!! RESKEET!!!!!
It seems like if you just post like a resist lib you can stack followers fairly easily
Plastic literally comes from the earth
Exactly, which is why OpenAI and family are all pursuing the IBM strategy of getting vendor lock in before this happens
The absolute desperation to make every technical issue encountered in the modern world about AI is not a winning battle
Idk which postmortem you read, but this one does not really point to “vibe coded slop” as the root cause. Saturating database connections has been an issue with networked services like this since I’ve been in the industry
It never dies
I think the attraction to these old technologies is an attraction to novel processes. For example, I really enjoy running my Plex server. It arguably makes my life more convenient, but the process of setting it up and managing requires a real break from the normal ways of doing things
The burden of convenience is not that anything essential is lost, it’s that the process of discovery and the interruption of habit is lost. Every time I cook a new recipe there’s new challenges, techniques, learnings. The only habitual aspect is setting aside the time
By contrast the people I know who don’t like to cook all say the same thing: they feel like it’s a waste of time. To me it’s not time wasted, it’s time I’ve reclaimed
Part of the reason I really love to cook at home is that it’s a 1.5 hours with which my partner and I are totally undistracted by anything except monotonous and occasionally frustrating task of putting together a meal
It’s not inconvenience so much as that we’re automating away all the processes with which we engage with our environment
And there’s very little reason to believe transformer architecture will ever achieve this since there are judgements baked into the math and training data itself. 98% of the alignment issue is providing the right judgements to the architecture in advance
