How is the fact that this intersection exists in my hometown not common knowledge?

Really, all he's doing is announcing additional spending on programs that are already in the works. All of these things are already a focus of the Department of National Defense's 2025 departmental plan.

Super useful thread. I've been considering many of these questions recently. I'm so embedded with Google, and I hate it. I need to pull my storage, which is the hardest bit. I'll still use maps, I guess, but I'll do my best to limit how much data I give them. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I've hosted my own under my own domain for over 15 years, but after a security breach, I moved everything to Microsoft.

If you need the advice of a local, feel free to reach out. I was raised here and recently moved back here with the family.

Come to British Columbia. We have bears, lynx, mountain lions, and lots of farms. Apex predators are essential for a balanced ecosystem. Read Aldo Leopold's "Think like a Mountain".

Yeah... growing up, I had really hoped "Wizard" would be a viable career option.

Given my teenage son's visceral reaction to "skibidi," I think I'm going to start using this!

It was perfect given all I really wanted was a little emergency help to bridge a gap. He was very professional and knowledgeable, but that's not all of them.

I went back to University and did a second degree in the mid-aughts. At the very end of that we ended up seeing a social worker when some funding didn't come through. This person was 100% focused on keeping us out of the system.

Even if this were true, having lived in the Pacific NW, in Canada, in a town where we got our water from a glacier, I can say with some authority that we do not have limitless amounts of water. The misconception that we do is dangerous.

Elizabeth May is doing pretty good, but the greens have a pretty lousy track record of trying to replace her

I'll never understand people from either side of the political spectrum that see politics, even morality, as a zero-sum game. That approach is fine if you're a preschooler but quickly falls apart in the real world.

SUPPORT CANADIAN ARTISTS. Buy (not stream) their music. Attend local shows. See Canadian independent films. Canada has produced some of the best artists who have ever lived. Do the work. There's never been a better excuse to do it.

Canadian official: Feeling of β€˜betrayal’ over tariff threats | CNN Business Mark Carney joins The Lead

Well worth watching @MarkJCarney explain to a US audience his view of the clear differences between Canada & US - and his critical point that if the US has changed its priorities with respect to Canada, Canadians are resolved to going forward on our own.

If you have not read the LOTR series, I highly recommend it. Read it together with the family! There is much more to the story than in the movies. It is an excellent parable for how much can be done to stem the tide of evil when good, kind regular folk work together.

I just re-read the series for the 3rd time. It really is, in so many ways, a story for our time.

You're not alone there. It's very demoralizing. Like so many, I have family down there.

If you think about it logically, DEI is fundamentally about stats. If group Y represents X% of the population, logically, they should have X% of the opportunity. If they don't, why? How you approach that question is the real issue.

A neurodivergent music take: I don't listen to The Beatles a lot, but I occasionally go down a rabbit hole. My ADHD brain craves novelty, and 60 years later, their approach to composition is still unique and fresh.

Science and religion was a perennial theme. I found the people who did not confuse articles of faith with empirical knowledge were the most engaged and had a deeper faith.
