Australia's cyber security co-ordinator just dropped what I think will be a very useful reaction meme
"Benches are where optimistic visions of civic life meet reality. To remove them, or to curate who gets to sit, is to abandon the work of defining a civic ideal and determining, together, how to live up to it."
NEW: Why benches are slowly disappearing from public spaces — and why we need them back:
Albanese says his mother would have been eligible for trimmed-down NDIS Anthony Albanese has provided a bit of detail on who would be eligible for the reformed NDIS: people like his late mother, who he described as “crippled up with rheumatoid arthritis”.

Oh you think it's "cool" to do a heist? To assemble a crew of specialists, each with a unique backstory, to create a beautiful ballet of theft? You think it's "cool" to purloin beautiful treasures under several redundant layers of security? You people sicken me. Next you're gonna say you use drugs.

Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.
As a lapsed fan, asking me to rewatch the longest one, with the selling point that it's now even longer, is not compelling

Adam Morton Chris Bowen to begin Cop31 climate summit president's role remotely Chris Bowen's role as president for negotiations at the Cop31 climate summit in Turkey later this year will kick off remotely. With the fuel crisis raging and Bowen giving daily press conferences on the government's response, the climate change and energy minister said he would not fly to Berlin next week for the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, an annual meeting of representatives from about 40 countries. A spokesperson for the minister said he "considers his travel carefully" and would not fly for the meeting hosted by the German climate action ministry on Tuesday and Wednesday. "In this instance he will take advantage of the virtual attendance and continues to engage closely with all his international counterparts. Australia will also not be represented at ministerial level at the first global conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels in Colombia starting next Friday.
Australia's energy minister is skipping global meetings on accelerating the phase-out of fossil fuels because he has to stay in Australia to deal with the fallout from not phasing fossil fuels out fast enough.
I find the youtube essay thing of 'here's my bulletproof thesis presented over an hour+' and then at the end they tack on their 'oh i forgot about this one huge thing that invalidates it entirely' to be an extremely weird thing that keeps happening.
And it was good!
