This might be the way
Came to work and managed to forget all of the three books I'm somehow reading. What a world.
does anyone know what this blazing ball in the sky is.
Also I got like a triple dose of anaesthetic because I tend to be resistant to it (hence my original dread of dentists actually) so now my entire face feels like it's made of this:
Immediately fell apart but I was SO brave
I have to go to the dentist in 20 minutes and I am being extremely brave and normal about it
Happy Monday everyone.
That title is outstanding.
I mean this is obviously not 100% true, I suppose, but it is today.
I wish every movie I watch could be a Powell and Pressburger movie
nice wee timeline moment
sometimes writing feels a bit like poking a sleeping bear and running away to see what it does when it wakes up
I visit this tree all the time and it always cheers me up without fail.
Good morning
Anyway, we went to see Laura Ramoso because we desperately needed a laugh. Incredible show.
Imagine being the sort of person who shows up to a person's home, quotes a price they can't possibly afford, and immediately takes 3D scans so that their home can go on the market immediately. Imagine being that person.
had a stress dream that i accidentally published an unfinished book (somehow) and everyone was so mad at me lol
A "break glass for Melville" situation, if you will.
I'd love to do one of those readathons. Maybe I'll organise one some day if I can pull myself together.
I have a special "nice" edition of Moby-Dick, and a scrappy paperback edition, and a travelling ebook edition. I literally have it with me at all times.
Might reread Moby Dick.
Folks I will read literally everything.
I think my favourite memory from the past month is the time I charmed the border agent at Dublin preclearance with my knowledge of the Star Trek novels of AC Crispin and appreciation of DC Fontana.
Just learned that the landlord will be selling our place and I'm devastated. It's the first place I've ever felt truly at home and now we might lose it. I'm heartbroken.
"if i just change literally everything about the thing I'm working on, it could be really good" - me to myself 3000000 times a day
Anyway, if I'm writing, a whale is probably in there somewhere.
Hoare writes "But I digress. Whales do that to you. Once you've met them, in a theme park or the open ocean, they forever exert your power over you." It's true, you know, and, funnily enough, I feel like I met them properly for the first time in Hoare's Leviathan.
I was so brave and made an appointment with the dentist 😭
Was it partly an excuse to finally buy this? Maybe.
