Towards a different sexual ethic We've rightfully thrown a lot of shade over this series, so it's only fair that we try and round it off with something constructive

I'm really proud of what we've achieved on AGWCBI, here's the final episode of season one: substack.com/@agodwecould...

Why do abusers thrive in church? With churches across the world rocked by revelations of high profile leaders using their position to sexually abuse members of their congregations, we ask is this something endemic to Christianity?

We have reached the crux of our podcast series: why is it that so many of the churches that obsess about sex as if it is a special class of sin also shelter and protect sexual abusers in the pulpit and the home?

What did Church teach us about sex? We get personal and discuss how the things we learned about sex from church shaped our earliest experiences of relationships.

When Jesus Became Inclusive A story so true that many people doubt it

This post feels central to the argument I've been building up that God has (learned to?) become more and more inclusive.

Today is the Day Why, on balance, I'm glad that the symbol of Christianity is a cross.

I had a great chat with my friends from The Northumbrian Collective. In the midst of chaos, how can we listen to the still, small voice?

Two Ways to Attend to our Imperfection One of the weirdest theological innovations of my lifetime: empathy is a sin.

I love that Bluesky doesn't throttle external links... Well, let's see if that's true!

Yesterday I posted my favourite things of last year, and a few more thoughtful things. This year I've decided to write a bit more until I run out. So today I'm starting with my song of the year. I'm not going to post every day, but if you're interested you're welcome to subscribe to my Substack!

Chuffed that my first published work in a LONG TIME is out in the wild, just in time for Christmas!

So pleased to have worked with Roy Searle and Joshua Cockayne on this, a gentle but firm gospel corrective to the 'Big is Beautiful' subtext of the current church planting orthodoxy.

I would recommend turning it into a short series of animated YouTube videos rather than a book. But maybe no one makes money from those... ๐Ÿค”

Don't get too excited; you'll probably end up getting crucified.

To the first hearers of that story, the shocking lesson would have been exactly the opposite: that God does not need us to kill anyone, and faithfulness means not looking to violence to appease God.

To some people reading the story of Abraham and Isaac today, the shocking lesson is that God might ask us to kill someone, and faithfulness means being willing to kill.

Hey, I'm new here. Expect theology, politics, sport, media, games and self-deprecation.

I've heard good things about this place but it doesn't feel very intuitive.

How do I find my way around? How do I find my friends? How do I make new friend?
