Recently at our Dover center, Collections Supervisor Taylor had someone very special in the donor chair — her dad, Kimbridge! As an O- donor, Kimbridge’s gift is especially powerful. Known as the universal blood type, O- blood is critical for emergencies when every second counts.
In 2022, Vinny was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer. More than 30 blood and platelet transfusions helped carry him through treatment.
Today, Vinny is thriving as a passionate jiu-jitsu athlete and an advocate for blood donation.

“We had a patient that was really sick, and they were hanging blood for him,” Abbie said while making her second donation. Now headed to paramedic school, donating feels especially meaningful.
