In honor of Earth Day: a thread of environmental wins
Geography.
Of 8.5 million Virginians, only 70% are registered to vote.
Of the registered voters, only 53% voted on 21 April 2026.
Millennial and Gen Z are the largest voting block....yet..

There’s a reason it’s reduce first, reuse second, and then recycle.
Recycling should be the last option.
For the record: The Washington Post is run by partisan hacks who think we won't remember that they took the *exact* opposite stance when it was Republicans pushing their own gerrymandering grab in Texas last year -- *without* putting it up for a vote.
America: Guns don’t kill people ChatGPT kills people.
Absolute lunacy.
Everyone loves the Earth (to)Day!
What about the other 364 days?

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time.

Going on the road, at least Crosby thrives on “Crosby Sucks” chants?…. 😳
Baltimore did right by Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, marking her 200th! Thanks to Dr. Ida Jones, Dr. Lawrence Jackson, the team at Hard Histories, and the many others who made these celebrations possible.

Convinced if Baltimore City enforced (or implemented) red light cameras, we’d have new schools and perfectly paved roads.

In 2019, I led a Norfolk, Virginia heat-mapping campaign supported by the Virginia Department of Forestry. That work, integrating newly developed Community Resilience Estimates for Heat and exploring heat across Virginia was finally published in Weather, Climate, and Society.

I can’t imagine why Baltimore’s ‘Peninsula’ is struggling….
Fun fact.
Heat records far outpace cold records.
Climate contrarians always seem to disappear when summer arrives…

If you use the R package DLNM to estimate excess risk attributable to environmental conditions (e.g., heat/cold), I've rewritten the package in python: github.com/aedessler/py...
