You're on the very short list of people that I wish lived in the same city as me. I had so much fun hanging out with you in Portland!
Possibility 3: This refers to the tendency of certain fans to hyper-fixate on a given character so much that no other character measures up. As a result, when the time comes to ship this beloved character, the only acceptable candidate is... the character themselves!
Possibility 2: This refers to fandom's tendency to dive deep into, and give dramatically increased complexity to, characters who were, in their own original media, somewhat simple, flat, or cliche.
Possibility 1: This refers to an over-fixation in fandom on villains perceived to be redeemable.
Hard Choices has a trailer!
Share it on the socials and help start a horny on main revolution. EVERYONE should be talking about the fact that Elmer Fudd wants to bang grilled cheese sandwiches. This is not a niche issue, people!
On my trip to Portland a few weeks ago, I overheard a person on the train use the phrase, "The Oncelerification of fandom."
That phrase has haunted me ever since.
I can think of at least three separate, distinct possibilities as to what phenomenon they were referring to, but I can't be sure.
You know the moment when you're playing a game and you come across the character who is clearly, CLEARLY the devs' favorite? The one that just makes them grin and crack up every time they need to come up with a new scene for him? Ahti should be those characters' mascots.
