How rightwing rhetoric has risen sharply in the UK parliament – an exclusive visual analysis In the past five years, MPs’ attitudes in the House of Commons towards immigration have swung harder to the right than at almost any other time in the last century

A fascinating visual analysis summed up by @sundersays.bsky.social

“I think there’s an element of overcompensation” … “a cartoonish caricature of what the politicians think the public wants to hear, which might be harder than where the public actually are.”

“the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world” - Trump 🤡
“The climate is always changing, what’s happening now isn’t new or down to human activity” *they* say. 🤦🏻‍♂️

“… it’s due to increased activity of the sun” *they* say.🙄

So here’s a very readable article by @edhawkins.org saying otherwise! 👍🏼

We are undertaking a National Lottery Heritage Funded project about 6 of the shops and businesses and 6 of the houses in the local area (Dunkeld). We are researching the history of the buildings and their residents.

Today's photograph is an undated A.F. Mackenzie shot of Birnam.

Popped along to the workshop by Bob Carchrie on LiDAR and aerial photography this evening. All very interesting and wonderful to meet @historicdunkeld.bsky.social A very convivial group and although not an archaeologist, I hope I can contribute in some small way in the future.

Is it as rewarding as it used to be?
Back in the day, would have the list of 277, no guidebook, set off after work, sleep in back of a Mk2 Escort and make my way purely using a 1:50000 map - a real sense of achievement.
But actually, the rain is still 💦 , the wind is 💨 and just as 🥶
So yes, it is 😄

Rust fungus targets invasive Himalayan balsam in Yorkshire Rust fungus offers hope in Yorkshire’s battle against invasive Himalayan balsam, showing signs of self-sustaining, long-term control

Himalayan balsam, with its tall stems and pink flowers, has become one of the UK’s most problematic invasive plants...

For years, control has relied on painstaking manual removal, but now a new solution is showing promise: a rust fungus, imported from the plant’s native range. 🙌

A heartbreaking setback and a call to protect Taymount Wood

Was this really necessary?!!
or just a ‘tick box’ maintenance exercise disregarding any ecological or even financial benefit?
I really hoped the forestry industry had moved on from such practices 😡

Climate mitigation and adaptation measures are not costs. They are investments.

The true costs occur when mitigation fails and adaptation is too slow so we suffer from continually worsening extreme weather events like heatwaves and floods.

Invest now to reduce costs in future.

Sigh…..😞

Another day, another wildly misleading Daily Mail headline.

I mean, it certainly would be headline worthy if police had turned up and accused her of committing a crime by writing innocent FB posts.

But that's not what happened…
