Did you know that there were only 3 posters in #PAA2025 on #menopause among all 272 sessions, ~1,000 talks, and 978 posters?

Our DHS‑based findings on menopause timing in South and Southeast Asia sparked meaningful conversations—proof that the interest is there when the topic is given space.

Demographers ability to model the global population ("10 billion by 2050 followed by plateau") rely on DHS surveys. Without them we're blind to large parts of the globe and quality of forecasts will go down. Which is of course a non-issue if planing-horizons don't extend beyond next Friday.

My Talk. Why is the title "The Menopause Guy"? On October 11, I presented our work at an interdisciplinary workshop on menstruation at the University of St Andrews, where I had the unique experience of being the only “man” among participants working on menopause. As a result, I was given the nickname "The Menopause Guy” which I have loved so much and embraced for myself!

As part of the @imprs-phds.bsky.social Cohort 2024 (www.imprs-phds.mpg.de), I introduced my PhD project "Social Demography of Menopause Timing" and was grateful for the positive feedback it received.

It was an amazing experience to present our work at the Understanding Menstruation through Interdisciplinary Lenses Workshop at the University of St Andrews.

It's BLOODY time that LMICs break the silence and talk about Menstruation.
