Begs the question of why they're even asking about phones in schools in their OSA public consultation if they're just going to go ahead with it anyway

I think part of the problem is the films became too interdependent. I actually mostly enjoyed Captain Marvel, but at a certain point the baggage of all the plot points of the 20 or so movies that came before makes it hard to make your own plot stand out..
The Spider-man films are still good though

It’s such a crazy coincidence how the people in Hollywood advocating for use of AI are the ones who already have enough resources to exploit it for personal financial gain

Yeah, ok, but are you telling me that the dotcom bubble was the same size and scale as the current bubble? I don't think the problem in the dotcom era was the internet itself, but the overextension in the sector. Whereas funding AI growth itself in this bubble is a real actual issue

I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"

Good list, I'd personally add SMAC to it (Civ: Beyond Earth doesn't count)

Sorry but it is genuinely creepy that this (engaged,36yearold) guy spends his time getting angry that Gen Z women are "intolerant" for not wanting to date someone who supports a sexually abusive, racist misogynist who is destroying the fucking world and making it more expensive to live as we speak

@umactually.dropout.tv the pronunciation of scone is actually also hotly contested in the UK. Parts of the UK (myself included) would concur with Ify's pronunciation, whereas others pronounce it "scone to rhyme with gone" as described in the episode

Hey, look at Substack promoting Andrew Tate as the #1 new bestseller. The company's amoral leadership & backers will platform anyone, even ludicrously toxic rapists & human traffickers.

It's honestly wild how back to front it feels.

And the UK to still do with less religious encroachment onto the functioning of state (looking at you, Lords Spiritual) but it's still a way off from where the US is at these days

Russell Crowe’s Göring in Netflix’s #Nuremberg is genuinely impressive: vain, intelligent, manipulative, unrepentant. And the film gets the courtroom dynamic right: Jackson fumbling the cross-examination before Maxwell Fyfe stepped in to rescue the prosecution. So far, so good. 🧵

It's in Scotland and it's a converted church building, so I'm guessing even with double-glazing fitted it's still going to have an awful EPC

The "special relationship" has always been a lie we've told ourselves to make us think we've retained any control.
That's only very rarely been the case

Alternate suggestion... if Amazon need the water so bad, go piss against the nearest Amazon datacentre.

(Not actual advice, you may get in trouble for that)
