Calling all New Yorkers, @brooklynmuseum.org is the only NYC museum nominated on this year's Best Art Museums thing. Vote for your favorite hometown museum through February 17 (and you can vote multiple times, once a day).
🎤 ← is this thing on?
In honor of joining Bluesky and connecting with followers (familiar and new), allow us to re-introduce ourselves…🧵 (1/8)

Shout out to Ireland for selling me paperback versions of All Fours and Intermezzo months earlier than U.S. publishers will allow. Justice for hardback haters.
the real war on christmas
a little ode to brooklyn—brooklyn as muse, brooklyn as a home for creatives—with two of our ever inspiring artist-trustees, mickalene thomas, jeffrey gibson <3

90s kids—did anyone else make vhs mix tapes of your favorite MTV music videos? Still holding out hope my mom didn’t actually throw them and they’re around in a dusty box somewhere.
For my Brooklyn/NYC peeps who want to feel something this holiday season—there are three days left of @brooklynmuseum.org's annual toy drive. We have bins set up in our lobby you can easily pop in and drop off new, unwrapped toys (for ages 0–14). I promise you'll feel real good after <3
a softboi (cat) thinking hard thing, upside down on a couch. He is mostly white with tiger markings, with STUNNING green eyes.
softboi (cat) sitting on one of the two fucking places in apartment that we constantly ask him not to—our brick wall mounted bookshelves. Alas, he’s cute and has big dumb ears.
a softboi (cat) lying in a window dramatically looking out, is it a bird? No, probably just noticed his reflection. He may have a walnut brain but he sure is handsie
sofiboi (cat) yet again, in a perfect shrimp pose on the couch. His cutie harm covers his face, revealing a little flirty eye 👁️ 🍤
debuting calvin, my favorite soft/sharpboi on the occasion of his 8th birthday. sound off in the replies how much you love him. or don’t. he’s a cat. he couldn’t care less.
You don't have to live in NY to write Ms. Lonely Hearts! 💌
Still monitoring what the appetite is for art content here, but dropping this lovely new series we @brooklynmuseum.org are trying out—an advice column for art lovers. 💌
Hope to hear from some of you 🥰
looks just like mine <3
Ken Burns' doc reminds me how much I loved da Vinci as an art history bebe. Imagine being a low-born genius, working your ass off since childhood to achieve success, and your flex is to buy all the birds at markets just to let them out of their cages. What a gentle little punk.
loved the first one. keep 'em coming!
You can find info about the work here: tbae.brooklynmuseum.org (gallery 3) 🙂

Still searching for my art + film + music starter packs / people!
Fri-oritization at its finest :)
A good next step is rummaging through the starter packs :) blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack...
Thinking about what kind of personality we’ll assume on Bluesky… 🧵

D'aw Scully! She looks so happy 💕
Y'all are sleeping on the real cinema doubleheader, Queerstance. I may never sleep again but nobody cared if I sang along to the Queer's soundtrack, and fight scenes in The Substance are my Roman Empire.
eköörb, a delightful but useless knick knack that will be left out in a "FREE" box on the sidewalk by the end of the year.
lame, overused meme that says "there is no plan to fix anything because the plan was to destroy everything" that I wish would stop being delivered to me.
lame, overused meme of uncle same that says "I want you to keep punching nazis" that I wish would stop being delivered to me.
All I want for Christmas is a way to block these engagement-thirsty generic MSNBC lib resistance memes from my feed. Appreciate the sentiment, Nancy, but I'm not on Facebook for a reason.
Quiet luxury is waiting for you above the dusty bottles of Patrón
But DJ Dijon is so much better.
Underrated value of libraries beyond literacy benefits is introducing research skills the bebes.
I will never complain about my job again.
Anything for you.
