Valuation isn’t a trophy—it’s a performance hurdle. Setting it too high today creates a "debt to the future" that leads to "hiring walls" and unreachable milestones later.

I just finished Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. What a book!
I can't stop thinking about one thing: what happens when you strip away every assumption about how a system should work?
Highly recommend the book; and reflecting on its meaning about the systems in which you play, live, work, etc...
Valuation isn't a math problem; it's a narrative one. 📊
Culture shock: academics think about money in terms of costs; founders need to value a dream.

I loved the DC cherry blossoms so much I built some LEGO-blossoms for my desk. 🌸
The twist: Modern AI is exactly like this—a "bricolage" of fragmented tools and messy data. The "pipeline" is dead. Long live the random walk.

Fair enough but isn’t it really just a iPad with a fix keyboard and mouse yet not touchscreen. Still think they could’ve done better.
Yet no touchscreen. Apple is competing against themselves with this new line. I think it was a terrible idea.
Yes absolutely.
And how were they determined tho!!!
The best products are "warped" by the teams that build them.

The biggest shock? Not VCs. Not LPs. The weight of responsibility when employees exercised options.

Amazing man. What's even more remarkable is that this "discipline" is meaningful for all aspects of life. Investing. Work. Relationships. Live with intention.

My take: White-collar jobs aren't being replaced by GenAI; they are being redefined by high-stakes curation.
Achieving a maintainable, professional result requires bridging the "Pareto Gap" with domain expertise. Your moat is knowing when to push back.

Elegant code doesn't pay the bills; solved pain points do 🛠️
In the lab, you are the customer. In a startup, it's a trap.

Yes I told it I was driving at the beginning of the chat to avoid it spewing code when I could not read it.
On a long drive last night, I was geeking out with Claude on how to evolve my orgmode configuration. Really dig the voice-to-voice dialogue.
Two-plus hours into it, Claude seemed to get bored and basically told me "we're done."
