The downside is big loud trucks often stopping by outside

We really are neighbors with a disproportionate amount of restaurants considering we don't live in the city center or anything. But we got a square with restaurants and a grocery and library and other stuff, so that's pretty cool actually.
This huge and incredibly loud truck has stopped on the parking lot right outside twice this morning.
I looked up the name and apparently they supply restaurants with stuff so I guess it's for the new place that just opened up outside here.
Well turns out because my cpu is outdated, there are no compatible motherboards in stock anywhere. So I'll just have to make do somehow
Never mind, I don't think it's glued on after all. It just looked that way because there was some glue residue from some other things that was glued on.
Just need a new motherboard now
God cis people are frustrating.
For moment I was thinking about how a need to get some acetone. Then I remember that's what nail polish remover is made of. Yeah we have that lol.
After reading around, I think I'll try remove the glue with acetone. It's a risky move that could damage the motherboard, but it's not like I have anything to lose. It this doesn't work I'll have to buy a new one anyway
Yeah, could be the shipping thing. I'm not sure what they even gain by preventing upgrading. Won't affect people who don't tinker with their PC, and people who do will just end up hating their brand.
But because the manufacturers just glued the front panel stuff (usb, audio etc) stuff to the motherboard, so I can't connect my new case's front panel shit to it.
Isn't that just a butthole move? Why glue it? Seems like something you'd only do you mess with someone wanting to upgrade
We're trying to upgrade our pc (because of reasons we can change to an old gpu that's a considerable upgrade over our current old gpu).
But it didn't fit in the case, so we had to get a new case. But now I'm realizing I might need a new motherboard, and not because the one we have isn't compatible
Once I remember that, oh yeah things I see aren't necessarily real, it's most of the time not too hard to spot. But there is still 30 years of habit to contend with. The habit of not thinking about everything I see as potential fakery.
Sure, there is Photoshop and CGI and whatnot. But if I someone records a video of, say, a puppy riding a skateboard, then that means they filmed a puppy on a skateboard. That would be what my intuition tells me.
And now I have to unlearn that, and not assume anything is real. Which is kinda tragic
I think my awareness of this stuff is at the very least above average. I keep myself somewhat updated on related news, and I have at least a bit of knowledge about visual art and writing.
But I still have decades of conditioning telling me that videos and images are, in some sense, real
I feel like the reason people get fooled by "AI" isn't so much that the fakes are very convincing, as much as it just being things that people don't expect to be faked to begin with.
Been ordering food there about once a week with my partner, as a treat. ^^
To think we lived here for years without even trying out this food place that's literally just a minute away. Been missing out for real
Had takeout from the nice asian restaurant across the street. Got fried noodles with tofu, and I tried their spring rolls for the first time (very tasty!)
Trump may not be the first US president to threaten Iran with nukes, but he is the scariest yet.
That was a close call. Erin had a thought about her girlfriends just as I was about to send a message to home support, almost causing me to add a ๐ emoji at the end ๐
Why even pay for a book like that when you can just ask ChatGPT to generate it for you for free.
Or wait, do they still show up for me in my following list if I've blocked them? Or are they just untouchable now?
Damn. I gotta go through my follows because I have almost certainly done this mistake at some point
Apparently they paid like 1,3 USD per 10 second of slop generated. And that's just for the computing needed...
Imagine trying to get the users to pay like $8 per minute to use that app? Just not happening
Yeah, there just isn't a way to get people to pay enough to even break even in the video generation business.
From what I heard, generating a short 10 second or something video costs like $1,30 just for the computing power. Good luck getting users to pay for that
Gen AI lovers: "it's the future, it's here to stay, there is nothing you can do about it!"
Well here's the cool thing: we don't have to do anything, they're the ones that need to fundraise hundreds of millions daily to keep this "future" goinh
Apparently they were burning like 15 million USD per day to generate garbage videos. And my understanding is that since now they want to enter the stock market so they have to actually try to make money rather than just setting it on fire.
Woohoo! ๐๐ฅณ
Time to celebrate the death of Sora (the video slop generator, not the Kingdom Hearts guy).
I wonder if they slightly overcharge you on purpose through the year because getting a tax return feels much better than finding out you owe them money? Because I always get like 40-50โฌ from them.
Or maybe it's just how disability benefits are taxed. I never really had any other income
Taxes done. Apparently the government owes me 488 kr (about 48 Euro)
