House SS&T Dems just issued a report re NASA and the FY2026 budget: "Mission Aborted: How NASA Illegally Implemented the President's Budget Request Without Congressional Approval." Calls on Isaacman to "defend" NASA and not do the same w/FY2027 request.

If the price of gas is so important that it makes constant news, maybe we need to reconsider how we designed our society and cities. Maybe, just maybe, there's something wrong with a system that's so reliant on this one thing

Niche post for this account, but unfortunately I have accidentally become obsessed with the music of Chess despite the book making no sense whatsoever.

I ask for privacy during this trying time.

A GENTLE REMINDER: we are trying to eliminate fossil fuels because using them kills us.

If fossil fuels were cheap (they're not) or reliable (they're SO NOT), it would still be urgent to get rid of them because their intended use destroys our life support systems.

In case you were wondering about the vibe in space science lately, experiencing both halves of a Star Trek evil mirror universe episode at the same time is physically nauseating.

Save NASA Science Action Hub Updates and actions on the proposed cuts to NASA science in FY 2027.

If you’ve been moved & inspired by Artemis, NASA needs your help. Literally during A2, the president proposed cutting NASA science 47%, canceling 54 missions, including many already in-flight. To help stop these cuts, check out @planetarysociety.bsky.social www.planetary.org/save-nasa-sc...

As a constituent, @elfreth.house.gov and @vanhollen.senate.gov, I am disappointed to not see your name on this list and I urge you to work to remove Trump from office before he commits additional crimes and further reduces our standing in the world.

My condolences to @alsobrooks.senate.gov.

Speaker Johnson, we are calling on you to bring the House back to DC IMMEDIATELY!

The Cabinet needs to invoke the 25th Amendment. But Congress can’t just sit on its hands and wait for that to happen when the President is threatening to commit war crimes TONIGHT.

In Korea, when the president declared martial law after midnight and erected barricades in Seoul, congressional reps from all parties ran into the streets, yanked ak47s from the army at the barricades, broke down the locked door to Congress, repealed the martial law order, and arrested the president

Whiplash waking up to these photos alongside what the President has been saying. Hard to find words to describe the feeling of seeing these photos. I can't imagine what it was like for the crew to see it with their own eyes. Wow.

i think we should be clear that just because the astronauts did not immediately declare the moon haunted, does not mean it is not haunted

it may mean that the astronauts are now themselves haunted

have we prepared for this eventuality and if so how

So I would say that there should be a path back to redemption for *everyone* because if there isn’t then we might as well kill these people but “a path back to redemption” need not be easy, automatic, or restore them to their previous position of power.

Someone asked a question about the difference between art & science. It was wonderful to see many of us on the same page... Because what several of us said very quickly was - The differences you see are driven by capitalism and the Industrial Revolution, and choices about what is valued.

The fact that Congress isn’t stopping it is also why none of our allies will ever be able to trust the United States again.*

*The best hope we have is unpacking the Court, prosecutions, and massive structural reform.

House SS&T Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) has a succinct comment on the FY2027 budget request. Not specific to NASA, but about science and innovation overall. Haven't seen a statement from Chairman Brian Babin (R-TX) yet.

The President's Budget Request proposes a 47% cut to NASA Science, a 55% cut to NSF, and a 13% cut to the DOE Office of Science. AAS President Dr. Dara Norman sent a call to action to AAS members via email today. Urge your members of Congress to reject these cuts now! aas.org/reject-2027-...
