“Because it can’t be forced, I let the rituals bring the writing to me. All I have to do is make the space for it,” writes @kellysundberg.bsky.social, author of The Answer Is in the Wound (Roxane Gay Books). Read more: at.pw.org/WRSundberg

"In writing these essays, I wanted the permission to withhold. This collection is so personal. PTSD is so personal. So, the gaps are deliberate. They allow me the opportunity to decide when to share which details." @kellysundberg.bsky.social

When I started cleaning my house before going on trips so it would be clean when I got back.
Something I really enjoy is when my husband is struggling with some kind of technology, and I get to say, "Did you try unplugging it and plugging it in again?"
one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much
Cannot WAIT!😘
Thank you so much!
I'm so excited to announce that my essay collection, THE ANSWER IS IN THE WOUND, will be released by Roxane Gay Books, an imprint of @groveatlantic.bsky.social on August 26th. It was such an honor to be edited by @roxanegay.bsky.social, and I hope you love this book as much as she does.
For my first @spitfirenews.com piece, I investigated the tactics used to make stories and information disappear on social media platforms like Reddit. This piece is about Blake Lively, but it’s also about how to manipulate the masses about anything.

His deputy seemed embarrassed. He stopped and told me how well I'd done, and that he felt like he'd learned a lot, then hurried after the sheriff. I remember saying to my bf (now spouse), who had traveled there with me, "Wow, that sheriff was really mad. He's probably a domestic abuser himself." 3/3
I had been unaware that law enforcement had been invited to the event (though I should have guessed). After the event was over, Sheriff Noriss stood up from the table, slammed his chair in, made a dismissive motion towards me with his hand, and stormed away. 2/
A while back, I gave the keynote address at a fundraiser for a domestic violence organization in Coeur D'Alene. I was seated at a table with Sheriff Noriss. My speech was about the failure of the police response in West Virginia when my ex-husband had been arrested for domestic battery. 1/
I'm on episode 2, and I like it, but the soundtrack is absurd. They play what should be background music at full volume. And yes, it's kind of cheesy--maybe a lot cheesy--but it's compelling, and it feels eerily prescient. Also, Sterling K. Brown is always such a good actor.

Happy Birthday to my BFF, @maggiesmithpoet.bsky.social! She’s the funniest person I know, the best dressed in any room, wicked loyal to those she loves, and she’s not just a good writer; she’s a good person too. I don’t have a sister, but Maggie is as close as I could get. 🧡
Thank you!!!

(And it's forest fire central over there, so that's another huge concern for the community too.)
I grew up in rural Idaho because my father worked for the US Forest Service. People in my town resented the federal employees, but the USFS is also the largest employer in the county, and I don't know how that very MAGA community will survive if the USFS gets shut down or significantly reduced.
