I went to the relighting ceremony last night for the Road Runner’s Retreat off Route 66 in Chambless, CA. The sign was recently restored and relit after like 50 years or something. It was really special to see this irl. The neon was so bright against the dark Mojave sky. #NeonSigns #Route66

My husband got the results today and he passed the Nevada bar exam!!!!!! 🥳

The Copper Cart. Seligman, AZ. 1952-2009. Currently used as a gift shop. The sign uses both neon and incandescent lighting with each side at one time containing 178 bulbs according to Route 66 Times.

I wanted to stop at Grand Canyon Caverns specifically for that dinky little dinosaur that I barely caught in this photo. Once I pulled in, I got distracted by the big yellow sign and all of the other dinosaurs around the property. Was a little bummed I forgot him but there he is.

Opened 1950s by Alice Wright. Sold to Ray&Mildred Barker. The property closed when Ray passed away in 2011. New owner attempted to renovate, but the project stalled by 2015.
The sign was renovated in 2003.

The lights on the Welcome sign went rainbow yesterday for Pride month. The lights frequently change throughout the month to support various causes. I wish Clark County publicized it more because it would be neat to capture all of the patterns for an archive.

Remember when Vegas was fun and Talk of the Town used swingers to advertise? There were two swings that hung from this sign and the dancers would swing on them to lure in customers. There was also a mechanical bull in the parking lot.

Inspiration can take many shapes and forms. Something about the word 'princess', the decay rusting on the bottom of the sign, and the way the wind was catching the scraps that still hung on I found so irresistible. I had to pull over and admire. It's the little things in life.

Say hi to the Boulder City Bighorns! The sheep that visit Hemenway Park are part of the River Mountain sheep herd. They have been testing positive for various strains of pneumonia since 2013. Lamb survival continues to be very low.

What I didn't know at the time is that the Starlite has been around since the 40's. The sign had some work done to it between April 2017 and April 2018. The structure itself looks similar, but the fonts have changed.

The sign at Starlite Motel was my muse for a day back in March... until someone came out of the property & questioned me a bunch for taking pictures of it. I could tell it made them uncomfortable, which made me uncomfortable, so I left.
