What Can You Hear From the Top of a Tower? - Radio World In Nick Langan's latest Signal Spot, we explore what can be heard on FM from the top of a radio tower near Jamestown, N.D.

I've always wondered what an SDR like the @airspy.com could hear while connected to an antenna atop a high tower.

Roman Porterfield put together an awesome video near Jamestown, N.D. that answered my question!

At just 22, he's also written some awesome software that aids his engineering duties!

Nothing that cannot be fixed. Send me an email: info at airspy dot com

The throughput on an Intel i5 13gen with one thread, decimation = 512, using 32bit floats:
o Real Input (one ADC) / Complex output => 3840 MSPS
o Complex Input (Quadrature sampling) / Complex output => 1852 MSPS

In other news, I managed to reach a sustained throughput of 2680 MSPS (Single ADC) and 1150 MSPS (Dual ADC) with the full DDC implemented in software using one thread of my Ryzen 5900HX laptop. 3.5x the speed of the state-of-the-art.
Any idea what can this be used for? #Airspy

-140 dBFS is enough? Check the Beta.

Noted.

That's why you are missing major info about the state of the art.

You didn't notice. It means it's so good.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Maybe. Or maybe use our own compression that's used in the SpyServer.

It's a 1:1 TLT. Try mix 43.

Ferrite toroid 35x23x15mm 35 x 23 x 15mm, AL 900 nH/W²

Yes, two cores stacked. I bought a hundred of these to clean the LED lighting in my house, and I had a few spares. Now it's their show time.

I found some pulsed noise this morning and I thought this would be a good demo of SDR#'s Wide Band Noise Blanker (WB NB) and Natural Intelligence Noise Reduction (NINR.) Here's a quick video of the different combinations. Used an Airspy HF+ and a YouTwin Loop.

The actual BALUN.

1 year ago 2 1 1 0

10 ~ 15m of speaker wire as a triangle pointing up. The BALUN is in the middle of the bottom segment. Use a TLT type transformer like the photo.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

After many optimizations, the performance is nothing short of spectacular. Not bad for a simple piece of speaker wire and a ferrite core.
