Some important additional considerations about the need to comment of the implementation of schedule F.

First, several sources have indicated that Institute Director and Division Director positions would likely be converted but not Program Officers.

NIH cancels its first and largest study centered on women The Women’s Health Initiative has produced numerous influential findings

I don't get how anyone can possibly be okay with ending the WHI. This study has accrued decades of data from 42000 women and it is still going. It helps to address critical research gaps that have been allowed to go unfilled because of durable misogyny and provides invaluable insight into aging.

Cuts to science research funding cut American lives short − federal support is essential for medical breakthroughs The National Institutes of Health has been integral to scientific progress in treating countless human diseases. Without its support, patients will ultimately pay the price.

Federal funding of biomedical research has been a remarkably successful partnership, with benefits that are so intertwined in our daily lives that they can be easy to take for granted.

So what will we lose if the U.S. continues to defund research?

🚨I converted the list of terminated #NIH grants (as of 3/22) into a google sheet. I added activity codes and award jurisdictions (see tabs for grant count and $ by each). Note this HHS list likely does not include all planned/completed terminations as of this date.🚨 Please use, share and distribute!

Pacific Northwest's ‘forest gardens’ were deliberately planted by Indigenous people Finding suggests humans have added value to forests in lasting ways

Some scientists had argued that the “forest gardens” of the Pacific Northwest were accidental byproducts of fire, flood, or land clearing.

But a 2021 study showed the contrary: Indigenous peoples deliberately cultivated them. scim.ag/41Gocwe #InternationalDayOfForests

Ubiquitin is directly linked via an ester to protein-conjugated mono-ADP-ribose | The EMBO Journal imageimageCertain E3 ligases have been found to ubiquitylate hydroxyl groups on free NAD+ and ADP-ribose in vitro, but the in vivo occurrence of this dual post-translational modification has remained ...

New research from the @jnpruneda.bsky.social and @michaelnadbio.bsky.social labs:
In this collaborative work, the groups show that ubiquitin is directly linked to mono-ADP-ribose modifications on proteins, a process called “MARUbylation".
