I can’t help but think of my good friend, Joseph Mercola, the wellness guy who talks to a marketing guru who channelling an all-knowing spirit, and who clearly has “issues.” So many gurus that make it big turn out to have “issues.” And people think they’re geniuses.

Mikhaila started a website (Prescribed-Harm.com) to collect anecdotes from people who allege having been harmed by psych meds. She says SSRI withdrawal can cause “permanent genital numbness and anhedonia,” and suicidality. She’s on a crusade to stop that.

Every bad thing that could happen to the Petersons keeps happening, and it’s always way worse than anyone has ever experienced before—real martyr stuff. And somehow, we’re supposed to listen to them to stay healthy.

Not according to Mikhaila: these are lies, and akathisia is actually like “falling into a volcano while being chased by a bear.” She has also had it and needed to lay in a dark room and try not to panic. Her dad is worse.

“Akathisia is a movement disorder characterized by persistent sense of internal restlessness, urge to move, and discomfort remaining at rest, causing inability to sit still, predominantly affecting legs.”

Her dad, we are told, has akathisia due to drugs he was last on… six years ago. I wasn’t aware of what akathisia was, so I looked it up on DynaMed. Here’s the definition they give:

She calls this theory “well established research;” it’s not. I’ve looked into mitochondrial dysfunction, and while it is real, it’s the latest bit of scienceploitation used by quacks to explain everything:

And the ketogenic diet—or, even better, the carnivore diet, later repackaged as Mikhaila’s Lion Diet—gives mitochondria an alternative fuel to avoid catastrophic injury.

You see, according to Mikhaila, mould causes the mitochondria in your cells to “hibernate” to protect themselves, and that causes the worst symptoms imaginable. Psychiatric medications also cause mito dysfunction, manifesting as neurological injuries.

First, the carnivore diet (steak + salt) was a cure-all… but then they learned about mould, and mould was really, really bad… but now it’s mitochondrial dysfunction.

They’ve always *figured it out* though and are quick to shout their revolutionary answer (and monetize it)… until they haven’t figured it out, and they need to add a layer to their theory.

The Petersons have the worst health, the worst symptoms, the worst diagnoses. If there’s a bell curve for symptom severity, they’re always at the catastrophic end.

By her own admission, the Petersons (which include her dad, vaunted intellectual Jordan B.) have had “many health problems.” In fact, to take health advice from them at this point is equivalent to taking financial advice from a guy who’s recovering from his fifth bankruptcy.

I was wondering why I could no longer find UpToDate on the McGill Library website: McGill has cancelled its subscription due to astronomical subscription fee increases.

It was a fantastic medical resource to use.

I must now familiarize myself with its replacement: DynaMed.

I’ve been following the whole saga for years, and his “medical misadventures” have been wiiiild. As someone who claimed he’d found a cure-all in steak and salt, his health has been horrible.

But that’s what denying science-based medicine will do to you….
