Good news. My grandchildren and their peers won't be legally conned by tobacco companies into addiction.

Unfortunately people only notice things when they go wrong or impact them.
Pothole = Massive incompetent failure!
Closed care home? Meh... (unless it is the one my granny lives in). (Of course, if I am stuck in a hospital corridor because of closed care home that is NHS fault.)

ChatBots are Diagnosing Diseases that Don’t Exist Based on Blog Posts Transcript: Many years ago, a friend of mine suggested an experiment: make up a conspiracy theory that was just plausible enough, and then track how far it spreads. It was fun to talk about, and he…

A researcher says she made up a disease with two posts on Medium, which led to Copilot telling users it was "intriguing and relatively rare." Posting two preprint papers about it online led to ChatGPT diagnosing people with it. 🧪

As an SHO I got called urgently about 2am to geriatric hospital (separate site). Gates were locked. No answer to bell. Pre mobile phones. Had to climb over 6 foot spiky fence, in my white coat, to get in.

Flow chart highlighting the need to regularly reclassify pheasants as livestock or wildlife according to their treatment, from rearing and releasing to feeding and shooting, in order to make the practice legal.

Can’t vouch for its accuracy but even if only some of this pic is correct, it shows the legal tangle necessary to make shooting pheasants legal. And presumably the correlation between our lawmakers and those who call massacring animals for fun ‘sport’.

(Sorry can’t credit artist.)

Don't keep us in suspense. Did it survive?

Our parliamentary seat has mixed areas. Safe Labour, with Cons a distant second. But most of the cons voters live in my council ward, where incumbent tory councillor is locally very popular and likely to win again. Tbf he is a decent hard working man who stands up for our area. Shame about his party

Leaflets don't mean much. I have had 4 in my bit of Leeds. Reform and Green very generic, focus on national/Westminster issues, don't even name local candidate. Green show position in national opinion polls, totally irrelevant at ward level. Best leaflet/most informative is actually Tory.

I get that.
On the other hand, if result of switched votes/split vote is eg Reform winning a seat, they will claim it as big win, even if their vote unchanged.

You are voting in local election.
Vote according to local candidate and what local party are doing/offering in local council.
National government/leader irrelevant.

Having had 2 grandsons admitted to hospital in very early life with RSV this is GREAT news - just sorry it wasn't available in time for my daughter.

Overall benefitted patients, reduced redundant appointments, probably reduced wait times - but at cost of consultants time reviewing referrals. And 25% rejection not reasonable in our service

2 days ago 0 0 0 0

Very few declined, always with explanation letter to patient and GP. Examples - referral for service we didn't provide. Referral to investigate test results which didn't need investigation (eg positive Quantiferon in patient with previous TB, misinterpreted spirometry) 3/n

Prioritise clinical urgency.
In some cases arrange investigations (eg CT, lung function) based on info given so results available at first clinic visit. Sometimes offer interim advice while waiting for appointment.

This is doable but needs resource input into consultant time.
Be fore i retired we were doing this in my dept, largely within thee timescales.
Positives: Redirect some patients to more appropriate specialist pathways (directly, not back via GP), ensure patients seen in best subspecialty clinic 1/n

Got Green election mailing for council election today.
Mentions 3 policy areas, none of which are issues for local council.
Highlights position in national opinion polls- which doesn't tell me anything about my city, or how tactical voting might work in my ward.
Doesn't even name local candidate

Fully support active travel, but beware of statistics. Association is not causation. Younger fitter people with shorter commutes are more likely to cycle.

Haven't heard from LibDems yet. Labour and Conservatives leaflets both talked about local issues and told me about local candidate.
Normal times my ward is 65% Cons, 30% Lab, 5% other. Current time is not normal.

Trainees and job applicants were supposed to understand NHS organisational structure. But just when you got the hang of it, the goalposts moved.
I lost track sometime in the 2000s, when our local PCTs started merging.
MDR TB was much more straightforward.

Trump posts images of himself as Jesus.
Vance lectures the Pope on theology.
Hegseth can't tell the difference between the Bible and a Tarantino movie.

They claim to be Christian but none of them show any indication of following the teachings of Jesus.

Why does any Christian support this lot?

Received local election mailing from Reform. Highlighted 5 key policies. 4 of which have nothing to do with local council (Not many migrants boats coming up the river Aire).
Only local issue was "cut council spending" but no indication of what services they would cut to achieve this.
