Reading the FT front page story about a Chinese company introducing a battery with a 1500 km range & six minute recharging time & about how two Chinese companies own more than half of the global EV battery market & I am struck by the different realities the US and China occupy. We’ve lost the plot.

the conservative reaction to the virginia results remind me quite a bit of their reaction to the 2012 presidential election, where they were offended that democrats ran to win
NEW: Immediately after Virginia's special redistricting election was called, election deniers, anti-voting activists and MAGA faithfuls began flooding the internet with claims that the election was rigged — despite a lack of any evidence.
Here's the definitive answer to the debate over "who started it": Republicans.
Before Trump pushed TX to gerrymander last year, the GOP had drawn 42% of all districts, versus just 14% for Dems (the rest were by neutral parties).
The maps below from @stephenwolf.bsky.social make this explicit.
The entire reason the Republican party even exists is inefficiencies in the U.S. electoral and parliamentary systems. It is a party based upon doing nothing by creating failure--and then running against said failures.
'The NSF has only committed $500 million of the $8 billion it was appropriated for the fiscal year, which began on Oct. 1. The NSF will lose the billions of remaining funding if it does not spend it by Sept. 30.' thehill.com/homenews/adm...
Journalists might've once had the excuse that the didn’t realize how bad MAGA extremism would be. But they can't plead cluelessness now. What’s left are cowardice, complicity and courage. Pick one.

I'm excited to share that we've made a collection of historic Supreme Court Records and Briefs available via

I've written a blog post where I go into detail about the importance of this collection.

In unfortunate news, one of the missions I work on, NASA TRACERS, is on the chopping block in the budget proposed by Trump and Vought.
A functional pair of sats that would just outright be shut off because the current federal government is anti science and anti exploration.
SCOOP --> Paramount, Meta, and X are refusing to say what happened to their huge contributions to Trump's presidential library after Sen Elizabeth Warren raised questions about its fund getting dissolved. Ds say tens of millions remain unaccounted for.

Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
It is ridiculous (and stupid) for the mainstream media to keep quoting Trump as if he were a rational actor or a reliable narrator.
Note to my fellow Dems: The 2026 and 2028 elections will be "change" elections. But mere promises to change or talking points about change won't do the trick. Candidates need to embody change. They need to be the change we want to see. It's not about a position. It's about who they are.
I am in Barcelona today to help unite progressive parties from around the world in a defense of democracy and a war against corruption. A first of its kind event. Necessary to beat back the forces of fascism.
"His name is BOB!"
Mike Johnson is a coward and a fool who only does whatever Trump allows him to—so we’re gonna have to work around him.
Write your members of Congress and urge them to protect the US Forest Service. It only takes 30 seconds.
We must act NOW!
It's essential, but also a fitting punishment for someone who spent so much time and energy protecting the statues and memorials of the white supremacist traitors who came before him in the Confederacy.
Gonna spend the next two years spamming every elected Dem about the concept of "damnatio memoriae." Chisel his name off every inscription. Build over the various Trump Towers like they're Nero's Golden House. Remove him from physical memory, not to forget but as a sign of disrespect to the man.
If you watch and share one thing today make at this. Why is every democrat in the country not talking like this?
A step away from asking the Russians to investigate their own influence operations in the US. The guiding principle of Trump policy is that Russian ops are good because they support him personally. The guiding principle of Russian policy is that Trump is good because he wrecks the US & helps Russia.
🚨Documents show John Roberts proudly casting himself as a leader of the opposition to “activist” judges.
Now, newly revealed secret memos show he led the charge to wield unprecedented judicial activist power — to make sure corporations would never be forced to reduce pollution.
Mapped the IDF's newly declared "Forward Defense Zone" in south Lebanon. Its maritime boundary fully absorbs Lebanon's Qana gas field, whose exploration rights were explicitly guaranteed under the 2022 US-brokered maritime border agreement.

(Reuters) - European allies fear an inexperienced U.S. negotiating team is pushing for a swift, headline‑grabbing framework deal with Iran that could entrench rather than resolve deeper problems, diplomats with past experience dealing with Tehran said.

There is billions in confirmed fraud within the Department of Defense, yet Trump and Vought are going after health care, childcare, and nutrition assistance.
As Congress puts together the 2027 budget, we must fight back.
That Yale report on what's wrong with U.S. college saw some trees (high cost, unfair admission, etc.) but missed the forest: the 60-year right-wing crusade to undermine higher ed, from slashing budgets to stifling speech
How to really fix college. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/yale...
"Top staffers were figures with connections to GOP politics who hadn’t worked in the arts, including one spouse of a Republican party leader whose longest professional experience was working as a marketing and events manager at a Toyota dealership in Ireland..."

Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.
