This administration specializes in fearmongering, not facts.

The facts: 86% of trans youth report s*cidal ideation and 56% have attempted to end their lives. Anti trans laws increase attempts by ~72%. <1% report regretting GAC.

If they are trying to protect children, science says they are wrong.

There are also possibilities for research opportunities and additional training opportunities through continued affiliation with the UCSD Eating Disorders Center. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a fellow and was able to stay on as full time staff at Rady Childrens!

I haven’t been on here much yet (hoping to change that) but I would like to emphasize the economic impact of the NIH in the state I call home. I got into this career to help improve treatment for eating disorders. Without agencies like the NIH it would be a lot harder to achieve.

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions

All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

So thrilled that both my abstracts with @USFDEPTHLab and @UCSD_EDC were accepted as talks for #iced2024. Can’t wait to talk about #compulsiveexercise and #eatingdisorders in New York this spring!
