I once wrote coauthored a D&D campaign setting boxed set and got to invent a bunch of deities and archdevils/demons. One devil prince I named Bei'thor, Centurion of Evil. His nemesis: a dog-headed "hound archon" whose ermine was surely glowing in the damp night. Just sayin'.

Very nice!
There was (is?) a big fuss about #Greyhawk inn names on Twitter the other day, involving @galadhion.bsky.social. Well now I'm throwing gelatinous cubes into the fray and saying they're basically the same thing. Stop being ridiculous, people! #dungeonsanddragons

My best wishes and good will for you, Marcel, to get out of whatever financial rut you may be in (& I *can* relate). I'm proud to say that my girlfriend (now wife) and I got to attend a preview partial-screening of Fellowship a few months before the film premiered, and we met some actors, too.
Eric, does the adventure "take place" at a different time than the original Elemental Evil adventure? Given the Twitter complaints that have cropped up (because Twitter), I'm now curious to know more about the plotline. Does the lore here assume the original lore is still in place? I assume?
I want to be so much more excited than I am about this. Just a long wait-and-see situation, I think. Book-based adaptations have been severely lacking in both TV and films in recent years—or I've just gotten a lot older and crankier.
I'm jealous of you! I remember when that was coming through, but I couldn't make it happen. . . .
Tá brón orm. A few words about Máire Brennan of #Clannad from my tiny little corner of the internet. She and her band were never off my playlist. But I think I'll be revisiting quite a few songs in the near future.
Anytime I'm tempted to draw some LotR/Trump parallel, I find I can't seriously use any of the intelligent enemies (such as someone who can compose "Ash nazg durbatulûk," etc). Mostly I think he just falls somewhere between Bill Ferny (for wit and skill) and Sharkey (for ambition and pettiness).

With a friendly voice
A companion, cyclopean
Plays the song that’s so elusive
And the eldritch music makes your morning mood" ♫
YES! That's the quote I pull from even in my book, though it's taken from outside The Silmarillion proper. I love that phrasing, "a secret voice that gainsayeth."
Nienna is one of those Valar (technically Valier) who we hear from so little (we get not one quoted word) but see SO many things that clearly stem from her. I tend to credit her even indirectly through the actions of Gandalf.
All this to say . . . who is your favorite of the Valar, and why? Based on so little, what characters from The Silmarillion do you glom on to even though there are so few words to base it on? #Tolkien #Silmarillion #TheSilmarillion #LordoftheRings
Something I think about whenever I see arguments about "canon" and Tolkien's contrasting posthumously published lore. #Tolkien #Silmarillion #TheLordoftheRings
Who dares reclaim the Eggs of Siberys from the servants of the Dragon Below and the Order of the Emerald Claw?! #Eberron #dungeonsanddragons
Exclusion of talk about Gollum at the Council of Elrond (the whole reason Legolas is there is news of Gollum's escape) in the film already made things wonky. So I'd say it's all up in the air now, requiring some re-invention and timeline tampering. Just like The Rings of Power, unfortunately.
Just needs one imposed on him. Perhaps James "Elentir" Tauber, to fit the theme?
Totally. This was a fascinating revelation that I had overlooked as well for years. Corey Olsen really helped suss that out! An invading force, not orcs from below. Of course!

18 years?! Back when I was a spring chicken! Also, they did make an Audible book out of it (with a cool narrator, Steve West, whose rich British accent makes my words sound way better). Michael Komarck's cover art also made it into Spectrum that year.
Guys, the alternative halftime show was fine. It was more than fine, it was . . . fire. Lit? Adorable, anyway. I'm talking about the Pro-Dog Halftime Showdown, of course! Adoptable senior dogs!
But also, Bad Bunny was pretty good, too.
Bien dit, monsieur.
My quick response to the recent flare-up of Tolkien fan cosplayers pretending that The Lord of the Rings is somehow anti-immigrant or anti–border security or some nonsense.
Just a reminder of who Tolkien considered Orcs in the real world. #Tolkien #thelordoftherings
Alderaan and Senator Organa should have just complied. It's their own fault.
Just another day in American newsfeeds.
I love the bizareness of Jon Anderson lyrics, but I also regard them more as an instrument than a message. Every now & then a Yes / Anderson / Vangelis collab song has a story with it, but even then it's presented in a more poetic form. "As we cross from side to side, we hear the total mass retain"!
While this article focuses on Neil's SFF explorations, it lingers on his optomism and worldly views. Today, his social and political messages, while never heavy-handed, are the most applicable. The lyrics of "Territories" really hits home considering the news of the day.
When I first wrote this simple tribute, it had only been a few days after Neil Peart passed away. I realize more every day the impact he's had on my life—philosophically, morally, optimistically—and the clarity his words have brought me. And clearly many others. #NeilPeart #RushTheBand
Happy Christmas'ween to all who celebrate.
