This is the hardest I have seen any member of Congress work to try and address transphobia in Congress, and her ability to get nearly all Democratic lawmakers to sign onto this letter is something any first would applaud
Stay frosty friends -- if you followed a bsky account that you thought was cartoonist Sarah Andersen, I regret to inform you: no you didn't, and they've changed their account identity a couple times now. :(
(About 20 people I follow, follow this account, so, head's up friends! 💙)
Some of you may be following this account: bsky.app/profile/did:...
This account was previously impersonating Sarah C Andersen, and amassed 66k+ followers. Now it's rebranded.
Boston City Hall, a brutalist building
People call way too many buildings brutalist.
Many buildings are built in the style of brutalism, but only one can be the brutalist.
KamalaHQ tweet with the caption "oh" showing two headlines side-by-side 1. Trump campaign has spent millions on anti-trans ads (CBS News) 2. Under Trump, US Prisons Offered Gender-Affirming Care (subhed) The Trump Administration's approach is notable in light of a campaign ad that slams Harris for supporting taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries for prisoners and migrants.

This is Minnesota's Lt. Governor, soon to be Governor, Peggy Flanagan. LFG. The upper midwest rules. Don't fuck with us.
This man was on TV like a week ago saying that trans kids should be protected and have the right to seek gender affirming medical treatments (with parental consent) that make them happier and healthier just like any other kids in the world.
And HE got the VP pick
Cannot overstate how huge that is
Governor Tim Walz sits at a table signing a sheet of paper, surrounded by a crowded of people, including queer legislators and trans children.
here's our future VP signing into law legislation that made Minnesota trans refuge state, protecting trans children from overreach by state AGs like Paxton in Texas.
As a 1999 graduate of a Midwestern school in even a pretty liberal town, I can concur that this was a pretty big deal for kids. There were people out of the closet in degrees but they were generally adults. Being out or questioning in the 90s was incredibly stigmatized.
Walz advised his school's first gay-straight alliance club - in the late 90s.
Vance isn't sure people without children should have full voting rights - today.

My favorite factoid about Tim Walz is that during his career as a high school teacher, in the same year, he coached the football team to a state title AND served as the faculty advisor for the school's first gay-straight alliance (GSA) club.
...am I the only one DEEPLY FUCKING UNCOMFORTABLE with all the cis people saying that calling someone transgender when they are not (cf The Boston Globe) is "slander" or "libel" or "defamatory"? Factually wrong, sure, but what exactly is the prob with being trans that it's "defamatory"?
I love when artists do subtle things like this.
Even if I don't consciously see the details, I believe that they do have an impact on the the effect of the art.
In addition to making our cities climate resilient, we need to make our cities pandemic resilient.
This includes air quality monitoring and clean air infrastructure everywhere, providing free masks and tests, mixed-use zoning, remote work, outdoor public spaces, bike lanes etc.
It’s unethical that COVID is frequently left out of conversations about public transport accessibility. Many disabled and higher risk people haven’t been able to access public transport for years due to the lack of masks and clean air. This is a huge equity issue.
a leaked logo on 2K's official site this morning, alongside a "Coming Soon" label and inactive links to a trailer and wishlist page. The appearance comes just ahead of the trailer-filled Summer Games Fest livestream, which will premiere at 5 pm Eastern Friday afternoon.
FELLOW DORKS: THIS IS NOT A DRILL. I REPEAT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Friendly reminder: While everyone's making a big thing about pride, and coming out of the closet, let's remember that not everyone is ready, or able, to come out safely.
This is why we must keep fighting.
Yo “Gays Against Groomers” the org comprised entirely of straight people except for one bisexual woman at the top who’s husband is a convicted pedophile just dropped the hardest fucking trans rights flag ever made thinking it made us look scary instead of inconceivably badass.
This is ours now.
Calvin and Hobbes Sunday cartoon. Calvin asks Hobbes "IF YOU COULD HAVE ANYTHING IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW WHAT WOULD IT BE?" Next panel. Hobbes ponders "...HMMM..." while Calvin continues "ANYTHING AT ALL! WHATEVER YOU WANT!. Next panel. Hobbes answers "A SANDWICH." Calvin is shocked "A SANDWICH?!? WHAT KIND OF STUPID WISH IS THAT?!". Next panel. Calvin continues "TALK ABOUT A FAILURE OF IMAGINATION! I'D ASK FOR A TRILLION BILLION DOLLARS, MY OWN SPACE SHUTTLE, AND A PRIVATE CONTINENT!". Next panel. Hobbes is holding a sandwich he just made with the peanut butter and bread on the table. He says "I GOT MY WISH." with MY in bold text. Calvin grimaces.
A sword hilt that is two women embracing and kissing, in silver
Talia, there was thread from a bunch of lesbians talking about swords and anyways have you seen the lesbian sword hilt?
male model wearing pink button-down shirt and blue jeans
One of the ordinary acceptable outfit choices in 1984 for an upper middle-class high-school guy:
-Pink button-down oxford, usually untucked (blue was more common, but pink was a solid alternate)
-Levi's 501s
-Topsiders
-Ray-Bans (or cat's eye Vuarnets)
By 1990, a pink oxford was no longer ordinary.
There's a rewatch happening on reactor.com that just started.
It's one of the formative SF things in my life.
I grew up back when essentially the only alternatives I ever heard about were "transvestite" and "transsexual".
Being a "transsexual" meant getting a "sex change" after you convinced a doctor you were "a woman born in a man's body". And that wasn't me.
Everything else was literally inconceivable.
On that note:
Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day.
Cis people: Repost trans authors' book links.
