It's like paying off a blackmailer... now that they know you're good for the money they'll keep coming back for more.

You know, thinking back to the days of French and English royalty, and given the fact that Trump soils his diapers, I'm wondering if Elon is trying to become the "Groom Of The Stool". Back then, wiping the King's ass was actually a much sought-after position for the access it provided.
Small acts of resistance🪧 Excellent thread everyone should 🧑🏽💻
“As a person who operates in systems that are extremely authoritarian (prisons, jails, criminal courts) let me tell you that many… simply *do not care* about protest. As long as it costs them little, they can ignore it.” Emily G. Almanza
Is the 300-character limit for bsky posts some kind of architectural limit? Is there a technical reason for this? Or is it a vestige of a previous technical limit like the railroad gauge and the horse's ass?
We all know Niemoller's famous lines "First they came for... but I didn't speak out..." etc. So: what counts as "speaking out"? I feel like I've been screaming myself hoarse into a vacuum these past few months, with as much effectiveness as a fart in a hurricane. History will not take note.
This will forever be the "butter emails" for Harris. Disinformation will destroy any chance of a shared state. I truly hope Stein and Trump supporters get it, now that the horses are gone.
Here's what you traded away because someone told you she was incompetent. Happy now?
I was a kid in '72, and admittedly my parents were Nixon apologists, but it seems like (a) Nixon was a distinguished elder statesman compared to the current dumpster fire, and (b) the guardrails of democracy were still largely intact when he was operating.
Truth be told I feel defeated. I feel like we fought as hard as we could already and it wasn't enough... what more could we do?
So I'm more of a Facebook person, maybe used Xitter once or twice back in the day. I tend to like long-form posts, how does one do that on this thing? Break it up into a multi-part thread? And then people reply in the middle? I just can't wrap my brain around this and I'm running out of characte
My take is that the recent election was a referendum on human decency... and decency lost.

But at least eggs will be cheaper, right? <padme>Right?</padme>
I'm rather suspicious of all the folks who "didn't show up to vote" after all the record new voter registrations and GOTV efforts, why don't they even start to look into this?

Can someone tell me why Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris both conceded so quickly? Why could Trump give us two months non-stop of "Stop The Steal" in 2020 culminating in Jan 6, yet now it's like "Yeah, whatever, we lost fair and square" and fading into the woodwork?

I've had three recruiters call me today for the same job opportunity: 100% remote (yay!) 12-month contract (boo) and it turns out it's with a division of Fox (shudder!). I'm employed full-time for the time being, but what if I weren't and that was the only job available?
So what do we do when our resistance to the regime runs headlong into our ability to provide for ourselves and our families? What if the only jobs available are with the likes of Fox or Elon's companies? What if your employer shoves a "loyalty oath" in front of you for your signature?
Took me a while to figure that out too. Truth be told the UI (at least on the web app) leaves something to be desired, hope it's a work in progress. If I had the spoons I'd contribute...
Is there a transcript or a summary? I hate video-only content
I haven't used the dead bird in years. Is there something equivalent for Faceplant?
I only knew you by your avatar
So, any tips as to how to connect with one's friends on this platform? I feel like I'm on LJ all over again where I don't know very many pseudonyms so I end up spelunking existing friends' contacts and guessing...
