Only having watched Twin Peaks once, season 4-5 of Stranger Things feel like production saw Twin Peaks The Return and thought they could do a multi location, multi threaded plot lines as well as David Lynch, but kinda failed.

(I've trying to use vague language so I don't spoiler anything) I don't know how far into the Russia plot you are, but it picks up when you meet Yuri. The whole 11 story arc goes from bad to worse... like who let this feral child go to public school, etc.

Stop after the season with the Starcourt Mall, it get's meh in season 4, and season 5 is kinda garbage. Way too many new plot points get added for no reason.
