What's the Radu Jude? He's got so many new ones coming out, I always feel like I'm at least two behind.

The real failure to look in the mirror is academics falling back on comfortable “we’re partly responsible because we enforced left wing orthodoxy“ thinking rather than the less comfortable truth that Trump/MAGA are bad faith actors who will only be satisfied with resegregated MAGA academies

A list of essential household items a married man needs to own to avoid social embarrassment & hardship according to 'L'Oustillement au Vilain' (“The Equipment of the Peasant”), a 13th century poem:

And garlic and leeks,
And chives and onions;
And the tub for bathing!!!

ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT is easily the second-best ICE AGE movie, but it also comes with an extremely cursed end credits voice actor reveal.

I suspect the Pope sounds "woke" to many Christian conservatives because the US is steeped in prosperity theology, where the point of worship is to deliver health and wealth to believers. Thus, "feed the hungry" and "show mercy for the poor" sounds needlessly political and "woke."

A ★★★ review of Rose (2026) Handsome, funny, very watchable in its well-calibrated austerity, but maybe a little too slight for its own good? Hüller is predictably magnetic, a perfect match between an intriguing character and an actor who revels in playing aloofness, and the ways in which her crossdressing ex-soldier rolls with the punches of 17th-century rural German social protocol manages to conjure up a vivid sketch of a past time and place. And yet, the film left me wishing it fleshed out that sketch a bit more, specified the past it so obviously frames as being in conversation with our gender-hyperconscious present. Schleinzer, to

Some quick thoughts on ROSE, which is well-made but a bit thin on the substance. boxd.it/dTXfZv

Heartening to see Léa Mysius' THE BIRTHDAY PARTY in the Cannes line-up, suggesting we're all just kind of moving on from the Willem Dafoe vehicle of the same title that premiered at Locarno last year.
