Ok, so I actually really liked the Snow White remake, but hear me out...

I like that they didn't cut the bit where Mickey bangs his nose on the door jamb.

Other than a couple of songs and one scene that I won't spoil, most everything you like about the original is in this one too. There's just more depth to the plot and the characters.

This is solidly in my top 3 of all the Disney remakes.

There has been lots of talk online about how this movie strays too far from the 1937 version. People are complaining that she doesn't get saved by a man, that there's no romance, etc. Those comments are being made by people who haven't seen the movie. All of those elements are still there.

I appreciated seeing a Snow White with some personality and I thought Rachel Zegler did a good job walking the line between the demure and innocent girl that has (unfortunately) been the butt of jokes for almost a hundred years and a gradually more confident person with actual agency.

Is it perfect? No. The Dwarfs are off-putting - though I did get used to them. The "Heigh Ho" scene is a bit slapstick, Jonathan's "Princess Problems" song and the Queen's "All is Fair" song don't land (though the other new songs are good).

With that in mind I went into this adaptation not really expecting much, aside from not liking the motion capture dwarfs. I was pleasantly surprised though. Most of what was added and expanded on from the "original" really worked for me.

That's a particularly hard shape for me too. I've done this weird one, plus a regular one and the pink one and they're all a little off...

My daughter and I are at #Disneyland spending some time on Main Street. We saw 2 horse trollies, 2 surry cars, 2 omnibuses and the fire engine out and about at the same time - and rode many of them. It's terrible that DCA is losing what little of this energy it has.
