Osha was an overachiever golden child with big dreams of graduating early with a sensible degree in engineering and landing a cushy job far, far away from her family, until she had a nervous break during her third semester at Coruscant University. After several years of depression she decided to return to school, this time at her mothers' alma mater, and this time studying things she actually cares about. Osha is a cautious, anxious, quiet girl who is overly concerned with rules and procedure. This is challenged by Qimir, the TA of her PHIL103 class.

Qimir, 31, 2nd year PhD in Philosophy and teaching assistant for Professor Plagueis. Qimir was an only child to a single mother who intended to groom him into being a scholar like herself, which left him incredibly lonely and emotionally neglected. He copes with this by being very charming and confident but still feels as though he will always be fundamentally alone, until he meets Osha.

Ariadne "Rey" Niima, 21, Sophomore at Brendok University, double majoring in History and Information Science. Rey was born in England and surrendered to an orphanage at the age of four where she was soon legally adopted by Unkar Plutt and forced to assist in various illegal schemes such as organized pick pocketing, scam calling, phishing and hacking, etc. It is here when Rey unwittingly meets Ben by attempting to steal his bank account information via pretending to be an employee of The First Order's HR department..... Rey is a cheery if socially awkward and anxious girl who often says things without a filter. She is introduced to Osha through Ben's friend Qimir and soon after meets Mae and the rest of the gaggle.

Benjamin "Ben" Solo, 29, in his second year of his PhD in History program. Ben was a gifted child prodigy who recieved his bachelor's at his mother's alma mater at 18 before being recruited by Snoke to move to England to study and attain his master's (both in Mathematics) and be hired as a finance director for The First Order. This involved a lot of shady business dealings and blackmail which often reinforced his emotional instability and internal pain. This changed when he recieved a phishing scam in his inbox one morning and decided it would be fun to mess with the scammer back.... Ben is a quiet, introspective man who is still trying to figure out who he really is. Qimir was an old contact of his during his First Order days who quickly became a genuine friend. They like to do bar trivia.

After meeting Rey, Ben finally gained the courage to break free from the life he had lead up til that point. Not just for his own sake, but to take her away from her own situation so they could both start again and build a new life together. He proposed one month after they moved to America and settled in a small, quiet New England college town, only a few hours drive from his parents. They like to do research together and are co-writing a book.
