The Goon Squad is out here to devour
Overall, probably the drink with the least ties to the neighborhood its named after. That being said, this is a nice drink: lightly sweet and honey forward, but with floral notes dominating the back end. The orange Bitters and lemon oil help to round everything out!
The last of my Neighborhoods series, and the last drink made in my old apartment, the Old City!
2oz gin
1oz Drambuie
1oz dry Vermouth
2 dashes orange Bitters
Stir over ice 40 secs. Strain into glass, then express lemon oil over the top.
Happy birthday to @nocturneaubade.bsky.social !! ❤️🔥 Hope it's a chill day with awesome vibes 💜🥳🎉

It's an age old gag that is somehow real
This one was designed to present Fairmount and its sister neighborhood Brewerytown's history as the beer brewing hub of early Philly. The beer is the base to match that, and we use the Chambord to give it a shandy like flavor. The Rye pumps up the flavor and the ABV. Lemon oil brings it together!
Next up in my Neighborhoods series: the Fairmount!
1oz Rye whiskey
.5oz Chambord
2.5oz Lager
Stir the whiskey and Chambord together over ice. Pour into your chilled glass. Add the lager in after. Express lemon oil over the glass.

Two small things tho: I had intended to use Bluecoat barrel aged gin for this, but couldn't procure it (thanks PA state stores) so used another local gin alongside oak bitters. Also, I would have used Philly Distilling absinthe, but cost was a concern so used what I had (which is bottled in KoP!)
The goal for this drink was to make something that feels reminiscent of the Manhattan (what with Rittenhouse being the bougie district) but also simple, allowing the ingredients to sing. In testing the difference a spirit could bring out was quite pronounced, a lot like a classic Manhattan.
Introducing the next cocktail in my Neighborhoods series: the Rittenhouse Square!
2oz aged gin
1oz dry Vermouth
.5oz sweet Vermouth
1 barspoon creme de Violette
Spritz of absinthe
Stir over ice all but the absinthe for 40 secs. Double strain, then spritz absinthe over drink to taste
I love @nocturneaubade.bsky.social ❤️ 😍
Sounds like a lucky guy ♥️
waowhhggg...
It was traditionally made with rock sugar (hence the name), so adding it as a garnish adds visual flair and a touch of sweetness as it melts into the drink.
They've been making a product called Rock and Rye for ages. And so, I tried to make a cocktail version of that! The use of Rye whiskey, orange liqueur, and the baking spices from Angostura all blend to create the classic blend of flavors. The rock candy harkens to the drinks namesake.
The goal with this drink was to celebrate something unique about Kensington that affected cocktails as a whole, and turns out, Kensington is the home of Jacquins, a liquor/liqueur company thats been around since the 1800s.
Presenting the next of my Neighborhoods series: the Kensington
3oz Rye whiskey
.75oz orange liqueur
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 barspoon American Picon
Stir over ice for 40 secs. Double strain, serve with rock candy garnish.
I found an extra Azem jacket in my stock. It's the one I sent to my photographer so it is used lightly and has since been washed so - giveaway? Size L
