I think I reached a stable pausing point with my hard drive extraction so maybe in the next week I'll catch up on here...

Still going @__@ I am missing things and some stuff is corrupted, but I also know I have recovered a ton. I am trying to focus on what I've saved more than what I'm missing 😭

Me too 😭 I have photos going back to 2011 on there, and I don't know what's backed up where...

20 hours of scanning and sorting later...

Started the jpg transfer and have been at it for 3.5 hours. Will see if everything is there...I also have a png folder, and I don't know what's in there yet

Ah, that feeling when you accidentally reformat a hard drive and 1.32 TB of data is no longer visible

(After a brief panic I am hoping I found a way to recover it all)

Our story places Death deities at the protagonists, so religion is a part of the narrative. I find myself grappling with my own beliefs as we write this, but I'm not surprised. We're writing about mortality and the afterlife, and world-building questions also cause some self-reflection #PretendPanel

We read about it for research purposes, of course, but I also like seeing it played with in fiction. Stories that play with myth, folklore, and religion fascinate me, because they reveal so much about the place and people they're tied to

Tylor was not prepared for his entire worldview to be challenged so thoroughly. He also wasn't prepared to find himself wanting to stay in Naveena's company

Naveena wasn't prepared for her murder to come back to haunt her. She also wasn't prepared for Tylor to be so grumpy #AprilAdventure #WriteSky

MASSACHUSETTS, call your Senator! This bill that seems good but is bad. It's poorly worded and too vague, meaning there will be an inordinate amount of overreach and sites that should be readily accessible to all ages will have to require an ID to access. Tell your senator to vote it down!

They both want to save a missing uni student who was kidnapped under similar circumstances as Naveena. Naveena wants Tylor to remember his past lives. Tylor wants to learn more about his powers and the world (and would like to not have to change too much in response but too bad)

Dear [names of authors]

I hope you’re both well.

I’m writing to personally invite you to take part in the Bournemouth Writing Festival, taking place from 24–26 April 2026 in Bournemouth, UK. I recently came across [inserts your book], and its bold, genre-blending stories of longing, belonging, and imaginative worlds feel like a perfect fit for a festival celebrating diverse, boundary-pushing fiction and speculative storytelling.

The festival connects authors, readers, and industry professionals through both in-person events in Bournemouth and a virtual festival platform, offering meaningful visibility and opportunities for sustained reader engagement beyond a single weekend.

As festival authors, you would receive a dedicated author profile page on the festival website, inclusion in the official festival programme and online author directory, live engagement opportunities such as readings, panel discussions, or Q&As (virtual or in-person), sales-focused discoverability through links to your preferred retailers, and opportunities to connect with fellow authors, publishers, and creative professionals.

Authors may take part via an in-person stand, a virtual booth, or a combined package. There is a modest participation fee, which covers platform access, promotion, production costs, and logistical support, and is designed to keep the festival accessible while ensuring high-quality presentation and meaningful reach.

Scam alert: if you get the invite below to the Bournemouth Writing Festival, it's a scam (confirmed for me by the festival director). See the highlighed phrase. I've gotten similar reports of fake invites to the Edinburgh Book Festival, and I'm sure there are others.

In Chinese folklore, the Big Dipper is no mere cluster of stars. It is the celestial emperor’s throne, fixed near the heart of heaven and never lost below the horizon.
Ancient sages imagined it as his chariot, circling the sky as he watches over the four corners of the world. 1/2

Bottom mid: The written word is the great connector to the past and other minds, and Keita doesn't just read, but still writes in his daily journals.

They bring their mobile phones as well as a backpack Keita prepares for them with several kinds of currency and some falsified paperwork (& coffee). Tylor can't go invisible at will & he actually needs to eat this weekend, so they need supplies

Naveena starts with a laughing, hopeful heart that quickly gives way to a stomach churning with fear and survivor's (?) guilt. Tylor is sent reeling at first, but once settled, he has to contend with balancing a breathless desire to explore coupled with a stern determination to focus #AprilAdventure

Naveena loves adventure, as long it's fun and has great company. Tylor likes the idea of adventures, but only if they don't involve people. Unfortunately for them, this is not fun, brings tons of people into their path, and forces them to face their biggest traumas and fears. Yay~ #AprilAdventure

Naveena desperately wishes she could recreate.

Bottom right: This is a puja thali, important to Hindu rituals. Naveena was raised Hindu, and while she was not particularly religious in life, she finds great comfort in its trappings and familiarity.
