When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless.

But I did not give up on America. I’ve spent my life fighting for its ideals.

Goodnight to everyone who loved her speeches, watched her rallies, cheered her plane arrivals, adored her style and dreamed of a Presidency full of joy and compassion.

We will get that dream.

One day.

Like the lawyers, doctors and other medical professionals are preparing to stand up and speak truth to power. Our fellow citizens deserve no less.
