Birds are truly one of my favourite things to draw. I think they’re one of those creatures who’s feather anatomy has so much leeway for inaccuracy, but will still ultimately translate as B I R D

I think we should start referring to "flash" as repeatable designs - and "pre-drawn" to non-repeatable.

(Flash was originally something you would do over and over - even allowing other artists to do them / reinterpret them with credit to the original artist)

Oh hey it’s the year of the snake! Here’s a drawing of a snake I made.

Simple sketch lines of a moth hugging a lantern

More defined sketch of a mother hugging a lantern with more accurate proportions and details of the lantern and candle’s shape. Now with base shape and flow of the smoke in the background

finished line-work layer of the lantern and moth. The moth is hugging the top right corner of a gothic rounded lantern with pointed ornate details. You can see the open concept where the dropping candle lays partially melting and plumes of smoke wafting away from a heart shaped flame. The smoke is drifting on an angle from the top left corner of the image down to the right around and behind the lantern with small smoke hearts added in. The eyes and pattern on the wings of the moth are also heart shaped to fit with the valentines theme of the piece

This is the same description as the previous drawing but now with shading. It is dark and heavy behind the candle but keeping the flame bright. The ends of the smoke are very dark and then gradually get lighter the closer they are to the flame. The mother also has light shading on its body and wings, adding texture to create a natural fuzzy look. The border of the piece has simple gothic linework with small dots and diamonds to frame the piece. There is the artists signature tucked into the lower middle right area of the drawing.

I don’t always trust the process even though I should. I love seeing my first scribbles to the end result 🙃
