A super quick note on my AI usage. (Spoiler alert: I use AI mindfully for my work.)

A slice of key lime pie.
Key lime pie special for $3.14 per slice! Happy Pi Day!
Amazon told me that I bought this CD in Aug 2008.
Uh...These days I can open up Spotify or YouTube. Essentially I have paid for the music in at least two different places.
At the same time, I am too lazy to locate the CD from the storage and the CD player from my stash of hardware. 😩

icq dot com in April 1997: The website of "Instrumentation et Contrôle Québec".
TIL: In 1997, "#ICQ" stands for "Instrumentation et Contrôle Québec".
Here is the earliest capture of icq dot com from Wayback Machine.
Instant messaging options from LinkedIn profile: Skype, ICQ, Google Hangouts, QQ, WeChat.
#LinkedIn let me to enter a #Skype or #ICQ contact. 🙈 Sounds like we're in year...2006?
Ubuntu Linux v5.04 CD
From my photo backup in 2006: #Ubuntu #Linux CD. Picture taken probably on a Motorola Razr flip phone.
Here's what the website looked like from an SVGA monitor. I might've used #Netscape. 😍
Wayback machine retrieves amadeuschoir.com's version on Nov 27, 1999.
On social media ban for youth: I am pretty sure that there are other ways to discover content, but not on Tiktok, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram...
My choral music nerd within myself managed to find Amadeus Choir's website and sent them a snail mail. Note that Google was not a household name.
Gosh, I could totally see some non-technical people falling for those threats and follow the instructions.
The version from 1999 was readable even with the broken links to the images.

I've been searching the early 2000s version of a website using the Wayback Machine. The site used #Flash (yes, THAT Flash). The site is no longer accessible using current browsers.

What are other conference code of conduct templates in use nowadays? The CoCs so far emphasize the following:
* No racist, sexist and other discriminatory languages
* No inappropriate physical contact
* No stalking and bullying
* In physical conference venue and online
confcodeofconduct.com
They advised me not to reply or engage. They will monitor during the next edition of the event. 👀
Update: I sent the conference organizers a message with some screenshots of messages I received from a seemingly conference attendee. The conference organizers replied within a day of when I sent the message. They acknowledged that the behaviour was unacceptable.
I will not post any details of my upcoming 2026 conference attendance until the events have passed. If you'd like to meet me in person during a conference, please feel free to ask in DM.
They weren't my co-workers so I could not ask my HR. Some incidents occurred outside of the conference venues so the conference code-of-conduct may not apply.
I have had individuals who made unwelcome remarks in person or slid (!) a snarky DM in my socials. Telling them how they're inappropriate encouraged them to say even more. Ignoring them made them to seek out other ways to get my attention.
How do you avoid or deal with unwanted attention and messages during work conferences and travels?
