EU ‘right to repair’ law
The EU will soon require smartphone manufacturers to let users replace their batteries.
The tough new rules - endorsed by the European Parliament this week - could save millions of phones from landfill.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
yeah still gonna flex the fact i made menu music for legit sega console hardware
one of my life career goals was to work on audio for toys. believe it or not i originally didn’t aspire to be a game composer as much as i wanted to just mess around with soundchips.
but this at least hit both realms😁

Fun fact, "10,000 steps" has no medical or scientific basis whatsoever, it was made up from thin air for a 1964 Tokyo Olympics tie-in marketing campaign by a Japanese watch company that wanted to start selling pedometers.
ChatGPT: you’re right you’re so much smarter than him. He’s so schlubby and you’re so suave. Columbo will never catch you.

Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:
Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.
As i approached an intersection yesterday, I saw 2 courier bots converging. I pulled my phone out to record as I believed the 2 would struggle to co-exist. What I ended up filming shocked my eyes. Please have audio on.
I present:
Attack of the Courier Bot
Worth reading this thread looking at how delivery robots make money
Serve Robotics is the company that runs the interface of the white and green delivery robots seen throughout Chicago.
Coco runs the red ones and Starship is at UIC.
They post their corporate business decks online. I broke one down a few months ago when I first saw the bots. Lets do another round!

Arms *manufacturing* is gambling, but that’s chump change these days because you have to actually spend money to hire people to build things sooner or later. The real money in war profiteering is in using insider knowledge to front-run fake ceasefire agreements, and that’s fraud.
The “Calvin’s dad explains two types” meme, inspired by a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. Clockwise from top left: 1) Calvin’s dad walks into frame to find Calvin trying to operate a record player. The dad says: “There are only two industries left in America: gambling, and fraud.” 2) The dad shows where the record goes, and how to turn on the player, while Calvin watches. Dad says “Derivatives? Gambling. AI? Fraud. Video games? Gambling. Social media? Fraud.” Calvin says “yeah”. 3) With one hand open palm up, Calvin’s dad cheerfully explains to Calvin out of frame below him, “The stock market looks like gambling, but it’s actually fraud.” 4) In bed in a dark room, Calvin clutches at his pillow, eyes wide in existential terror. There is no text in the panel.
Thinking about when Ko Takeuchi (Warioware/Rhythm Heaven) got really into drawing art suggestions on Twitter and this included multiple Paul Blart Mall Cop illustrations.
I've wished for Arab-made games about Arab mythology for so long, and despite assisting on the project I still can't believe there's one swinging for the fences this hard. House of Hikmah is something very needed in a time where the world would rather erase us.
