This week, I lifted up the people doing the work, honored the mothers we’ve lost, and introduced legislation to expand access to care and save mamas. From community to Congress, this is what showing up looks like—because every mama deserves to come home safe.

Student loan debt shouldn’t follow you forever. Alongside @rephaleystevens.bsky.social, @adams.house.gov, and @ross.house.gov, I introduced the Clean Slate Legislative Series to help borrowers remove default records from their credit history. This is about second chances and economic opportunity.

We're launching the Anti-Corruption Task Force to hold this administration accountable and protect our elections. This is about transparency, accountability, and defending every American’s right to vote free from fear and intimidation.

This Tax Day, refunds are being eaten up by rising costs. When money is tight, scams and hidden fees hit harder. The CFPB protects consumers—but Trump’s FY27 budget slashes it by 75%. We should be strengthening protections, not weakening them.

Too many mamas lack access to the care they need. I introduced the Tech to Save Moms Act to expand telehealth, invest in digital tools, and connect moms to care in the #FightingFifth and across the country.

We must use every tool available to improve outcomes and save lives.

I’m proud to uplift the Center for Black Women's Wellness and their work supporting Black mamas beyond birth.

As we reflect on the #InHerHonor memorial paintings honoring Black mothers lost, we’re reminded that these losses could have been prevented. Support must extend beyond delivery. (2/2)

During #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, we’re highlighting maternal mental health. Black women are 41% less likely to start treatment for maternal depression, and up to 40% experience postpartum depression—twice the rate of white women. (1/2)

During #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, we’re shining a light on those improving outcomes for Black mamas. Black doulas provide critical, culturally grounded care that saves lives. I'm proud to highlight the National Black Doula Association, Birth In The Tradition, and the Atlanta Doula Collective.

This is what a public health crisis looks like.

Black women are 2-3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than their white counterparts. Black mamas deserve to come home safe.

#BlackMaternalHealthWeek is about awareness, accountability, and action.

Budgets set priorities and Trump’s budget is clear. More for defense, border security, and law enforcement. Less for small businesses, education, and Minority Serving Institutions in Georgia. Cuts to care. Cuts to opportunity. Cuts to the future. We should invest in people—not punitive systems.
