Cheers Honore! I appreciate it.

Hi Honore, I was wondering if you knew the status of these works? Still haven’t started yet and traffic is only getting worse! Eager to see these works commence to improve safety locally.

Respectfully, the lack of a park does not seem to be Dan’s only issue with student accommodation. I’m not sure how students “damage community cohesion” but I am very disappointed to see this line of thinking coming from the Green Party.

It’s the ideal place for students of CCAE, CCAD, CSM, St John’s, College of Commerce and other tertiary institutions that aren’t UCC or CIT main campuses… and certainly better than the previously proposed hotel.

Also a complete disregard for the colleges and departments located in the city centre such as the architecture school, art college, and school of music all within a short walking distance of this proposal.

What’s the alternative - 500 students cramped into family-sized houses across the city? Students are a huge part of our city and important for its vitality. Also hate the characterisation of a “transient population” (read: not home owners) being bad for “community cohesion” or whatever that means.

Often I’m trying to cross the road and the green man is flashing before it is clear of cars just continuing through a red light because there is no enforcement. Albert Street at the junction with Albert Road is particularly bad and we’ve lost a crossing up at the next junction.

Thank you for raising this issue Honore! Traffic calming is definitely needed here. Glad to hear work will start soon.

Ní bheidh treoirlínte pleanála don Ghaeltacht againn go dtí 2027. Dúirt an t-Aire na Gaeltachta go bhfoilseoidh na treoirlínte roimh dheireadh na bliana ach an mhí seo caite.

Ah yes, FG “too woke” for voters so they voted in droves for Catherine Connolly instead.

Of course this is his takeaway and not the overwhelming support for Connolly and the issues she espoused during the campaign.

I need every journalist to point out that even if steen got the finger out and got on the ballot (she didn't), and even if all the spoiled votes would have gone to her (they wouldn't), she would have still come last

Gov TDs on the radio spouting 'the ppl have spoken' platitudes also scary - they really don't get it.

Next election in Ireland will be a total sh*show. Some areas will be no-go for canvassers and ppl will get hurt.

Where's the push back against the Facebook-isation of our democracy?

IMO and I say this as a planner, I don’t think ABP is the place to determine strategic public infra. There’s not enough planners. Other EU countries publish the EIAR and have public consultation and then pass an Act that gives a project “planning permission”. Similar to a Part 8. A model for here?

The Irish language can serve us more than culturally. It can allow us to determine our own narrative beyond the darkening Anglosphere.
