That 'worst magic sets of all time' survey EDHrec did was interesting, but also really highlighted to me how weirdly set-agnostic my local play group is, we play commander and cube, so sets don't matter much to us specifically.
Should a gm fudge dice rolls? Generally no. Should a villain make mistakes or take action that leave them vulnerable to what the players can do? Absolutely yes.
Had someone over to look at a house issue today and they spotted my computer and stream deck and asked about the specs and instantaneously all knowledge of my PC and stream setup flew from my head and I stared blankly for an embarrassing amount of time.
I was starkly reminded the other day that I play way to much modded minecraft, and some of the things that seem obvious or straightforward for me are absolutely freakin' not for others. Think I may have been doin' some accidental mansplaining and/or gatekeeping. I feel quite the fool now.
Assassination combats, gauntlets to the escape zone, collect more doodads than the enemy, all sorts of alternate win cons than last team standing. I find it really gives some breathing room and reason for more niche abilities, rather than players feeling the need to optimize for combat every time.
Ever since GMing Lancer for the first time a few years ago, the lancer combat style has been seeping into the other games I run. I still put the players up against the occassional classic death match still, but ever increasing numbers of weird combat objectives are creeping in. Its honestly great.
I need to prep for my Pathfinder session but I screwed up the ordering of things in my planned story arc and now I need to twist things around a bit so things make sense. Nothing too severe and the players will see very little of this, but I'll know... I'll know...
It could be really bad for Discord if Californians contact the office of the Attorney General to report the potential violations of CCPA and CALOPPA citing the recent breach from a few months back where 1.5tb of user data and millions of IDs were leaked, but who can say for sure?
Its important to remember that there are humans on the receiving end of this discourse, and as usual, its terribly frustrating that the actual decision makers are not the ones reading these comments, safely insulated from the consequences of their decisions until its too late.
Discord's face verification plan is continuing to heat up online, which I'm sure they expected. I always have to wonder how much online grousing is considered acceptable on these project plans. Like is there a social media manager watching a cartoonishly large dial labeled 'hate comments'?
Discord offers a truly phenomenal tool for free. That's an incredible thing, the sheer quality of life that it has over skype or teamspeak or the myriad other older chat programs cannot be denied, but it feels like we're at the lifecycle point where every new feature now makes the tool worse.
The discord face scan thing that is apparently imminent sounds pretty annoying. I see the vision, lotta servers out there that are very much not appropriate for teenagers, but I can't help but read this as yet more data harvesting and info selling once again dumped on the users shoulders.

I don't exactly dislike react content, I partake in a few different streamers and such that do a bit o' react stuff here and there, but my god in the last week my youtube has decided that I am OBSESSED with react streamers. Wonder if this is because I caved and watched some shorts this week?
the dragons into a space ship that the party pilots around for combat. The dragon fights are such a core iconic part of the Temeraire setting and experience, but just based on past experience I don't know how one might design a system that mechanically presents them well that is also *fun*
silo'd into their ship roles, pilot in charge of movement, gunner in charge of guns, engineer... gives a buff to speed or armour? ...comms officer... gives a buff to someone? These systems have always fallen super flat to me, cool in concept, boring in execution. I hope Temeraire doesn't make 2/3
I was chatting with my partner about the Temeraire ttrpg thats in the works, and I cannot help but worry about all the space ship TTRPGs that I have played in the past, where a perfectly functional, mechanically tasty RPG session grinds to a halt as space ship combat starts and everyone gets 1/2
I genuinely don't know if this setting will even make for a good TTRPG mechanically but I am so ready to find out.

Planning to stream for the launch of Ark Knights Endfield today, but I'm not 100% sure when it actually launches, the game says around 2pm, which would be perfect, but I have been seeing other posts implying it will be later tonight, so we shall see!

Man I have not been this sick in ages. I'm over the worst of it but the tail end of the cold has dragged on and on. Think it might be another missed stream tragically. Hopefully I'll be with it enough to still run D&D tonight.
Finally finished split fiction with my partner, another absolute home run of a couch co-op game from Hazelight. Absolute recommendation from me!
Also some of those sequences from the last section have melted my brain a little.
Probably tasty, but probably not terribly healthy either.
Off to the internet-less island this weekend for some camping, but I think its time to plan a few D&D one shots again. I got some excellent new art for D&D that I need to show off, and I really want to stream some more TTRPGs.
